i immediately go silent when something upsets or hurts me. it's a coping mechanism i have developed over time. instead of expressing my anger or frustration, i simply withdraw and try to process my emotions in private.
breakdowns don't necessarily mean crying. most of the time, it's you blankly staring somewhere and not having the energy to continue doing whatever it is you're doing.

Depression is also getting up & going to work everyday, keeping up with yourself, laughing, putting on makeup, going out with your friends. Functional depression is also very real.
