The DA can confirm that the party’s Federal Executive has unanimously resolved to terminate Mr Renaldo Gouws’ membership. Mr Gouws has been formally informed of this decision. He therefore forfeits his DA seat in Parliament: https://t.co/o5BDUaFY19

This decision follows a thorough investigation conducted by the DA's Federal Legal Commission (FLC) into the allegations against Mr Gouws. The FLC found Mr Gouws guilty of contravening several sections of the DA's constitution.

The DA remains committed to upholding its values of accountability, non-racialism, and respect for all South Africans.

Less than a month ago the @WesternCapeGov stepped in to remove a growing refuse pile in the centre of Knysna. Once again the municipality has let the situation deteriorate, at the height of the tourism season. The municipality can’t clean up the refuse, they can’t supply clean water, and there are significant sewage leaks into the lagoon. Our team are completing a diagnostic report on the municipality in line with our Constitutional mandate and responsibility to determine the appropriate action in the interests of the residents of the municipality. 📌

Infrastructure has collapsed & large parts of the town is still without water.

The DA-led Western Cape Government and the DA-led municipalities of George, Hessequa, Garden Route District as well as Overstrand had to step up to and assist the people of Knysna.

@KnysnaMuni is on the brink of bankruptcy. Infrastructure & basic service delivery has all but collapsed.

@OnsBaizaNie runs two of the Council's largest service delivery Directorates - Infrastructure & Community Services.

Refuse removal under the PA deteriorated to a point where the DA-led @WCGovEADP had to intervene as the town was submerged under a growing pile of rubbish, and sewerage running down the streets & contaminating the Knysna Estuary.

By law, the Premier and his MEC's are required to have VIP protection, but in most cases I have only seen the Provincial Exec travel with one protector and the driver.
