Looking for Research Partners!
Caregiver beliefs shape how children are talked to, nurtured, and supported, and ultimately, how they learn and thrive. Yet, until now, there has been no scalable way to measure those beliefs in a global context. The SPEAK technology, developed by @DrDanaSuskind and the team @TMWCenter changes that.
We view the SPEAK is an innovative, computer-adaptive tool that measures caregiver beliefs about child development across different domains in just minutes and has been shown to predict caregiver behaviors and child outcomes, making it a powerful measure to detect early sources of disparities and better tailor interventions.
With the support of @BeckerFriedman at the @UofC, the TMW Center is launching a Request for Proposals inviting researchers and practitioners across the world to collaborate in a new international incubator built around the SPEAK technology. Research funds are available too!
We are seeking interdisciplinary collaborators to embed the SPEAK technology into new and ongoing studies around the world. Selected teams will join an international consortium of researchers and practitioners who will gain access to the technology and contribute to building global evidence on caregiver beliefs and child development.
Through the organization of virtual and in-person convenings and conferences over the next two years, we hope to provide participants with opportunities to discuss their findings, share best practices, and meaningfully expand their networks. Together, we aim to transform early childhood research and data systems to design more effective policies and advance the science of early skill formation across the world.
