It would be quite funny if Burnham was allowed to be on the shortlist for a by-election and his opponent in the selection was David Miliband. Not good, but funny.
To be fair, if I was Prime Minister and I knew my time was up, I would be inviting a random assortment of people to see the reaction.
“Why are Sean Dyche and Bradley Whitford from the West Wing at number 10?”
Did Scottish Labour ever actually let members know the outcome of the votes to rank list candidates? I know the results were partially leaked to the press and were eventually added to the party’s website, but I can’t recall any message going out to members.
“Defeated candidates did not take part” in the online meeting to identify what went wrong in the Scottish Labour campaign.
Examining what went wrong in a political campaign by asking only those who were elected doesn’t sound like a way to get useful answers.

When there are electoral failures (especially on this scale), simply “getting on with the job” instead of reflecting on what went wrong and acting accordingly is a dereliction of duty. If those at the top of the party aren’t willing or able to do that, they should step aside now.
The Labour Party social media officers are retweeting messages telling members to shut up and accept the terrible results and terrible performances of the leadership (along with the failures of the various executive committees and policy forums). Disgraceful behaviour.

@sweenyness Surely in true Gazzetta Football Italia style they could include a Gael with broadcast experience going through the papers in a cafe with a gelato. It wouldn't need to be La Gazzetta dello Sport that was used, it could be the Gazette or the Free Press.
