My final highlighted game of BCAT delivered a hard-nosed clash between Lipscomb Academy and Columbia Central in a game that felt more like a heavyweight boxing match than a summer basketball showdown. Every bucket had to be earned, every rebound was contested, and every possession carried extra weight in a low-scoring slugfest that never lacked intensity.
Columbia Central came out swinging early, setting the tone with efficient shooting and physical defense on their way to a 13-9 first-quarter advantage. Lipscomb refused to back down and answered in the second quarter by tightening the screws defensively while finding a rhythm offensively. The result was a furious response that cut the deficit to just one point, with Columbia holding a slim 25-24 lead at halftime.
The third quarter was an absolute grind. Neither team was willing to give an inch as both defenses dug in and forced tough shots. Every trip down the floor felt like a battle of wills, and when the dust settled, the scoreboard reflected just how evenly matched the two squads were, with the game deadlocked at 33-33 entering the fourth quarter.
Early in the final quarter, it became a can-you-match-this battle on both ends of the floor. Every basket was answered. Every stop was met with another stop. The intensity continued to rise as both teams fought to seize control. Late in the quarter, however, Columbia Central found another gear. Timely baskets, key defensive stops, and winning plays allowed them to create separation and close out a hard-earned 47-39 victory.
Columbia Central was led by #2 Tea'Shaun Moore, who stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist while making his presence felt all over the floor. Teammate #11 provided a huge boost with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks, bringing toughness and energy on both ends.
Lipscomb Academy was paced by #5 @_johnwilliams28, who finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and a steal while battling from start to finish. Christian Blivens matched him with 14 points of his own and added a steal, helping keep Lipscomb within striking distance throughout the game.
When the final horn sounded, Columbia Central had survived a defensive war and proved once again that sometimes toughness, discipline, and execution matter just as much as offensive fireworks.

🏀One heck of a Summer Nashville vs Memphis matchup at BCAT… Lipscomb squeaked out a nice Dub against Houston in a pretty heated emotional game… Christian Blivens and Noah Kaufman can both get to the rack at will and Langsten Jordan and John Williams are going to stretch the D with their shooting…🟣

John Williams ( @_johnwilliams28 ) is not just riding momentum right now, but creating it, controlling it, and taking over games when it matters most for an undefeated TN United 16U squad that is stacking wins early this AAU season.
This isn’t just a shooter getting hot. This is a strong, crafty guard who understands how to break a defense down piece by piece. John can absolutely light it up from deep with that smooth, confident release that stretches defenses, but what’s making him even more dangerous is how complete his attack has become. He’s reading gaps, getting downhill with purpose, and finishing through contact or drawing fouls when defenses overplay his shot. He’s no longer one-dimensional… he’s a problem at every level.
In a tight, physical battle against SMBallers 16U, with the game hanging in the balance and the pressure rising, John took control. A late 9- 2 run sealed the game, and he was at the center of it, delivering 8 of those points himself. A big bucket, trips to the line, and making free throws. John's composure was as cool as ice. That’s winning basketball. He finished that game with 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals while shooting scorching 58 percent from the field, a blistering 60 percent from three, and 88 percent from the line. That’s not just production, but ultra efficiency under pressure.
What separates him right now is that he’s impacting the game on both ends. The defensive side has taken a major leap. Active hands, great anticipation, and a nonstop motor. Averaging 2.5 steals per game, he’s turning defense into offense and shifting momentum in ways that don’t always show up in a basic stat line.
Through the weekend, he put together a complete performance, averaging 15 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while helping lead his team to another undefeated run. This week it was Hoover. Last week, it was Franklin: different settings, same result, wins.
John is more than just a shooter. He’s a playmaker, a closer, and a two-way guard who is evolving in real time. And right now, he’s playing with confidence, control, and the kind of edge that fuels winning.
