I make (ceramics, lasers, ...); fix (dislike disposables); write/proof/copyedit; cook & eat; grow plants; .... I have ADHD, and too many interests to list here.
@michaeldthomas i probably shouldn't even ask, and i hope you'll forgive me; is there any way to fight them that doesn't cost at least as much as the repairs they're refusing to cover?
@hankgreen Hi, Hank. (Apologies if someone else has already said this.) ISTM that having a right to something (on the order of health care or education) is orthogonal to the issue of whether there are costs associated with it.
@cavyherd I have a set of pet peeves that I've been wanting to write up for the Patreon. A lot of them are usage and proofreading issues. Yes, languages evolve; but losing distinctions, losing richness, losing the ability to express oneself clearly? Grrr.
@Vnend Oop!! Wrong bit of music! I should have tracked back to the previous tweet. My apologies.
The one you referred to is probably Eastern European Jewish; the lyrics could have been in Yiddish or Ukrainian or something of that sort. Where I heard it was in someone's living room.
If you recognize this tune, please tell me. (I may not have the right key, and there may be errors or missing notes. The words weren't in English. It has been more than 50 years since I heard it.)

@Vnend I was once told by someone in ethnomusicology that they thought it might be from Mali, but I have no clue as to whether that was even an informed guess.
@Antiproton_com Having read that fish oil, which is apparently made mostly from menhaden, is not sustainable, I take algae-derived stuff (Ovega-3) instead. Not sure how the price compares.
I see that some sellers claim that menhaden is sustainable. I also see this:

@Halftongue Hi, Xopher. I had intuited the abbreviation, which is straightforward, but not the reason for it, and I knew essentially none of what you've presented here. (Thanks!) ps: Do you tolerate 'Zoffer' as a pronunciation?
@TheMedievalDrK Umm, I'm missing a referent here. Just as nice as cherry blossoms? If so, I'm generally in favor, and I'm particularly in favor on certain crabapple blossoms that have wonderful fragrance.
@Antiproton_com @ConradKnauer@Paleowin I've found lots of ivory to yellow items and quite a few pale green ones. (Also lots of ceramics that fluoresce other colors, but I haven't checked those for 'hotness'; I don't have a survey meter at the moment.)
@Antiproton_com @Paleowin Have you noticed various other commercial ceramic items with glazes that fluoresce green? (I carry a violet laser pointer, which is small and works nicely.) Here's an example (under a blacklight) --
