@RichardHanania That's a lot of jargon for "we are out of touch with people's needs and fears."
Obviously, there is no deep state or rampant migrant crime - but maybe general political dysfunction is priming the endemic suspicion, distrust, or apathy.
Maybe liberals ought to pick up on this.
@ScooterJ773@streetsblogchi@ChicagoDOT Do you need big rigs to deliver bikes (or really anything), or would a few smaller box trucks suffice? We've been tricked into belief that maximally efficient (by volume) shipping is the only effective way. Go to any modern city elsewhere and you'll find lower impact vehicles.
@DavidZipper I’ve been dreaming of a similar program for Chicago. We’re too flat and too gridded to not subsidize cycling! Happy MN is a neighbor and peer state that can continue to peer pressure us into the right policy decisions!
@ScooterJ773@streetsblogchi@ChicagoDOT So we should continue to sever blocks and neighborhoods so suburbanites can emit microplastics and toxic emissions on their way to work, rather than invest in viable transportation alternatives?
@ThosVarley Sort of, but “capitalism” isn’t exactly a catch-all mythical boogeyman like the Devil. It’s a very tangible system to which many modern challenges can be empirically traced.
