The U.S. has finalized a major rollback of the Endangered Species Act.
One of America’s most successful conservation laws, credited with helping recover the bald eagle, gray wolf, and many other species, is being significantly weakened.
The new rule removes habitat destruction from the legal definition of “harm” to an endangered species. This could make it easier for logging, mining, and development to damage the habitats that threatened and endangered wildlife depend on.
Weakening these safeguards affects not only wildlife. It threatens ecosystems that provide clean water, carbon storage, flood protection, and biodiversity.
The ESA has been a cornerstone of U.S. conservation for more than 50 years. Rolling back habitat protections risks reversing decades of progress while nature is already under immense pressure.
You cannot protect endangered species if the habitats they depend on are no longer protected.

ICE killed a father of three yesterday and no one is talking about it.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo spent 35 years in Houston building homes and raising a family.
According to people interviewed, every night after work you'd find him on his porch, listening to music, petting his dog. He helped his three kids (U.S. Citizens) get through college.
It certainly seems that he was doing everything right, and then a federal agent shot him dead during a stop and his own son found out from a Facebook video, recognizing his father's voice as he lay bleeding in the street.
His son says that if his father had recognized any sign of law enforcement, he would have complied without question.
DHS says he "tried to run him over." This is the exact same lie they used to justify murdering Renee Good, a mother of three.
We are being asked to trust a rogue, lawless agency's word over a dead man's family, again, with no body cam release and no independent investigation.
Everyone should be outraged.
ICE agents shot and killed an unarmed civilian in Houston, Texas. The victim was a construction worker, a father of three US citizens, had lived in the US for 35 years and was applying for a work permit. He panicked and tried to flee when he mistook masked, armed ICE agents for thieves.
Step 1: Remove filters in Reflecting Pool because Obama put them in.
Step 2: Give your criminal neighbor who runs "Greenwater Services" a $20 million no-bid contract to paint the pool.
Step 3: Fill the pool with water from the Potomac River, the phosphates from which cause algae blooms.
Step 4: Freshly sealed pool and extreme heat result in a super scum event
Step 5: Direct National Park Service to dump hydrogen peroxide into the pool which causes the paint to peel.
Step 5: Deploy US National Guard to stop people from taking photos of the swamp as a perfect metaphor for the administration.
Step 6: Blame someone else.
Dude gets pulled over, they find $3k on him, and this officer straight-up palms $900 and hides it in his patrol car door while counting the money. The guy stays calm and keeps saying “y’all took my money” until they finally check the bodycam.
Officer Henry Chapman got arrested by his own department the same day, resigned the next, and just copped an Alford plea to felony embezzlement.
Sentence? 2 years probation and some therapy. No jail.
Wild how fast it got handled once they had the footage. Respect to the guy for not letting it slide tho.
