There is a press conference happening today on E20 b mly the expert group on behalf of the petroleum ministry.
I'm sure they won't be taking any questions. They will speak the same mumbo-jumbo : it's safe, energy security, lower crude import, more income to farmers, oil lobby, foreign hand blah blah and leave.
Even if they take question, no journalist will be smart enough to ask the real questions:
1. Why rolled out E20 when most of the vechiles weren't compliant.
2. Who will be responsible for wear and tear of non compliant cars. You'll say there are no reports world over for damage but that's because nowhere in the world have they introduced E20 without making sure that older vehicles have phased out and even then they kept the option of pure petrol for those few left with older cars. Ethanol corrodes non compliant cars. It's a known scientific fact. Why else would there is complaint cars if non compliant cars were as safe?
3. It was told ethanol blended fuel will be cheaper but it's costly than even erstwhile pure petrol because of mileage drop. People are buying more fuel for same useage.
Ethanol blending in petrol is not some Indian experiment. It is a scientifically proven global standard followed by the major economies for decades.
It is not “poison” for your car engine nor is it adulteration.
It is smart energy policy. In FY 2025-26 alone, India saved nearly ₹1.85 lakh crore in foreign exchange, replaced 302 lakh metric tonnes of crude oil imports, and channelled more than ₹1.58 lakh crore in the agriculture economy.
These are not estimates. These are hard numbers.
Government is not forcing ethanol-blended in to your car’s throttle. 100 octane petrol (ethanol-free, high-performance) already exists and is sold by public sector oil companies.
No one is stopping anyone from buying it.
The real problem is this: 100 octane petrol is missing from the overwhelming majority of petrol pumps across the country. That is why the debate feels forced.
If the government ensures that every single petrol pump in India stocks both E20 blended petrol and 100 octane petrol side by side, the entire manufactured controversy around “flex fuel” and “no choice” collapses overnight. Consumers will then genuinely exercise their freedom, some will pick blended fuel for the national interest and lower effective cost, others will pick 100 octane for whatever personal reason they have. No coercion. Pure choice.
The solution is not to scrap a policy that has already saved the country nearly two lakh crore rupees. The solution is to give people real options at every pump.
For those, agitating against this policy. Stop the selective outrage. Demand availability 100 octane petrol.

I personally experienced a 30% drop in mileage recently. So, don't pass shitty comments.
If you have the guts, let's do a real tank-to-tank mileage test using pure petrol vs. E20 petrol. The results will speak for themselves.
@BPCLimited
No one is blaming you for 10% Ethanol. They are blaming you for 20% Ethanol. Clearly older cars were not designed for it. A sensible choice would be to make both 10% and 20% ethanol available instead of running a national level experiment.
@amitmalviya Not against E20 but why force old vehicle that are not E20 compatible to use it, old vehicle owners are at loss due to reduced mileage. Provide alternate fuel to non compliant vehicle

Now since debate has peaked over E20 blending in Bharat & some 'journalists' are working in overdrive to prove how Bharat is not only Nation to implement it by comparing with other Nations, let's have a neutral & fact based comparison.
👉Sequencing of Bharat's ethanol policy differs from other major ethanol-producing nations.
-Brazil:
Regular petrol contains about 27–30% ethanol, but the country also has a mature flex-fuel vehicle ecosystem. CONSUMERS CAN CHOOSE between petrol, E100 ethanol, or any mixture depending on price and availability.
-United States:
Standard petrol is generally E10, while E15 is increasingly available. Vehicles compatible with E85 are sold alongside infrastructure for higher-ethanol fuels, giving CONSUMERS ADDITIONAL FUEL CHOICES.
-Thailand:
Offers E10, E20 and E85, with FLEX-FUEL VEHICLES AVAILABLE for higher-ethanol fuels.
-Bharat:
Nationwide E20 has been implemented, but flex-fuel passenger vehicles are only beginning to enter the market. MOST CONSUMERS CURRENTLY HAVE LITTLE CHOICE BEYOND MANDATED BLEND.
👉These differences raise several policy questions:
1. Shouldn't higher ethanol blends be accompanied by wider availability of flex-fuel vehicles?
2. Shouldn't consumers have a greater choice of fuel types based on cost and vehicle compatibility?
3. What is Bharat's long-term roadmap beyond E20—will it remain the standard, or is there a plan to move towards higher blends?
👉No doubt that Bharat's ethanol programme has significantly reduced crude oil imports and increased demand for domestically produced ethanol resulting in additional income for farmers. BUT at the same time, greater clarity on the future roadmap, vehicle compatibility, and consumer options could help manufacturers and motorists make informed long-term decisions.
👉Summary:
Brazil built CHOICE first, America built COMPATIBILITY first, Thailand built multiple fuel OPTIONS first, while Bharat built E20 first & is still building the flex-fuel ecosystem later with no solution appearing in near future.
The problem is THIS and I'm sure that PM .@narendramodi Ji is listening to it & working on solution.
Respected PM, there are majority people in Bharat for whom Cars or 2-wheelers are not only means of convenience, but also hold big emotional value. Buying a home & a vehicle, are both dreams for every avg Bharatiya. I feel it's injustice to the citizens NOT TO OFFER CHOICE in selecting petrol that suits his/her Vehicle's Compatibility. Fine, those vehicles that are manufactured after 2023 may be compatible for E20, but what about those who were manufactured before 2023? They are compatible to max E10. Then why should they be forced to risk life of vehicle because of IMPOSITION of E20? That's not fair, Modi Ji.
Pls give people reasonable choice to choose between regular petrol & E20 and don't allow further blending till Flexi Fuel Vehicles are available in bulk. That's it. The whole issue is resolved. Pls look into it, Modi Ji.
Only .@PMOIndia can take a call in interest of every section of vehicle owners. Rest is all noise & dictatorial.
Clarification: The word "experiment" wrt E20 used by Attorney General in SC yesterday was strictly referring to the logistical process of adjusting annual ethanol supply allocations based on market dynamics & not to E20 blending. Media outlets like Times Now twisted the words to give wrong impression & honestly speaking, even I fell for it. Have deleted that tweet now & issuing apology for that, but only for that & not for my stand on E20.
Sources: Government ethanol blending data, Brazil flex-fuel programme history, US EPA fuel standards, and public announcements on Bharat's E20 rollout and flex-fuel vehicle introduction.
@swapan55 Congratulations dada, after dedication of a decade finally you have succeed in electoral politics. May bengal get best work under karyakarta like you.
Lord Balaji, Forgive Us!
It has come to light that the sacred Tirumala Laddu Prasadam was contaminated with animal fat due to the actions of past ruler. To atone for this grave injustice, I will undertake an 11-day Deeksha starting on September 22, 2024. Let us restore Dharma and preserve the sanctity of Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy.

Indexation benefits on capital gains made from the sale of property have been withdrawn. What does that mean?
If you bought a property for ₹10 lakh a decade ago and sold it for ₹30 lakh today, without indexation, your capital gain would be ₹20 lakh, and you would have to pay tax on that amount. With indexation, the purchase price is adjusted for inflation, reducing the capital gain and thus the tax liability.
This indexation benefit has now been withdrawn. Disaster! It will only further promote underreporting of sale value and black money.
Dear @narendramodi ji & respected @nsitharaman ji ...the income tax paying middle class has largely stayed with you in the recent LS.
Due to increased cost of living, request you to announce a roadmap for increasing tax slabs or increasing tax exempt income for next 5 years, starting with first chance in budget in June.
This calibrated step by step change would mean that rax revenue foregone will be gradual & probably spending power increase would help increase the GST collection. This would not impact Capex spend much or won't impact funds for social security schemes for our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
The correct time to do it maybe now and not in 2028.
This is a humble request from your supporter.

Beginning to dislike this year’s IPL now.
Unnecessary slugfest!
Small grounds, flat wickets, thicker bats and an impact sub.
Might as well put bowling machines instead of bowlers.
No fun watching these >250 games anymore.
@AxisBank@AxisBankSupport what a worst service you are offering. I have raised ticket to reduce loan rate that you close without doing anything. Got it reopened but still no action. I am done and shifting loan to @HomeLoansByHDFC
