In Toronto, there has been growing confusion around when to dial 9-1-1 versus other contact numbers. It's crucial to remember that 9-1-1 should only be used for emergencies. For example:
💊Someone you know has a substance use issue? Get help by calling the Toronto Community Crisis Service at 2-1-1.
💉Someone having an overdose? Immediately call 9-1-1.

Scammers are posing as contractors, claiming urgent roof or chimney issues, then increasing costs as “new problems” are found. In some cases, they even return pretending to be Interpol demanding more money.
Remember: no police agency will ever show up to your house demanding money. If someone shows up uninvited with urgent repair claims, slow down and verify their credentials.
