It's been an incredible week starting with the 6th Molecular Allergology Workshop hosted by @thermofisher ImmunoDiagnostics in Uppsala ๐ธ๐ช followed by the #faameurobat2024 conference in Athens ๐ฌ๐ท a short, but enriching experience connecting with some fantastic allergy researchers!
First paper from #HealthNuts 10 year follow-up is out! Allergies are common in Melbourne with 40% of 10 year old children having at least one allergy. 1 in 8 have asthma, 1 in 8 have eczema, 1 in 4 have hay fever and 6% have food allergy. https://t.co/3Fa7q1gnq4
Did you know around 1 in 3 infants diagnosed with a peanut allergy will naturally outgrow it by the time they turn 10? Plus we can track their peanut specific biomarkers over time to find who is more likely to outgrow their peanut allergy? And this is from my first #PhD paper? ๐

Paying #PhD students a fair AND liveable wage is well overdue. I couldn't do a PhD without the support of my partner working full-time.

Have a look at my review in @AmerAcadPeds! We looked at age of #solids introduction in infants and childhood/adult health outcomes. Data from 32 systematic reviews with a whopping total of 410 original papers. @MCRI_for_kids https://t.co/MPqUTkt3ax
I've been speaking to PhD candidates about the struggle to maintain a decent standard of living on stipend rates - well below minimum wage, because they're considered students, not workers. Particularly tough in this economy https://t.co/65MQnUnsX8
Incredibly honoured to have recently received @MCRI_for_kids Rising Star Award โจ A huge thank you to everyone that nominated me. I owe this achievement to the enormous support I had surrounding me. Particularly the RSA, MCGR & DoP committees, and my supervisors!
We are recruiting PhD students to join the #HealthNuts team who are interested in epidemiology, and uncovering the causes and consequences of childhood food allergy. Please share with your networks. @PopAllergy https://t.co/STOABXOE01
People need *actual time* and *mental space and energy* to manage their mental health. Workplaces/ schools promoting services and supports when there is literally no time or flexibility in their schedules to access, participate in, and use these supports and resources is unfair.
