(3/3) Let us pray for racial reconciliation across America and take time to consider the roles we play in systemic oppression as the church — because we do all play a role. There is no passive position in dignifying human life.
(2/3) Systemic oppression disproportionately impacts black lives. Let us take a moment to consider that many of our communities of color are not okay right now. Let us honor the reality of grief caused by systemic oppression and grieve with them.
(1/3) Black America has been protesting long before this week. As we've seen, protests following a public murder have transitioned to riots and while the immediate reaction might be to condemn rioters, the gospel pushes us first to understand the pain of our brothers and sisters.
If you teach Black kids, it is your responsibility to spark conversations with them (and your colleagues) about race. If you don’t teach Black kids, it is your responsibility to spark conversations with your students (and your colleagues) about race. Discomfort is no excuse.
