I heard a therapist say, “Your feelings are always valid, your behavior is not.” She explained by saying feel what you feel BUT you need to be accountable for what you do as a result of those feelings.
"Hey you should come to Calabar!"
"No, I just finished my MB and I just finished our health week"
"Please, I promise you, my sisters would make afang soup for you and I'll host you at my place after the event"
"Deal! Because of that I'll come!"
Omoh. Rest in Peace @musty_tk_
Mustapha Tukur @musty_tk_ and Kabiru Hamza @kabir_hamza_ both 500 level MBBS ABU are two of the 3 missing students from the unfortunate capsized boat. It's been over 15 hours and they're still missing.
We pray and hope they're found.
Professional journalism takes you on the journey to the heart of the issue and presents you with facts on the ground without manipulations so that the audience can make up their minds.
From this clip and interviews, the people interviewed despite being Sudanese, kept their responses to the issues without demonizing anyone or playing any victim card.
They accepted their reality and presented the exploitation and concerns over the human conditions surrounding the war. Transporters are taking advantage and hiking prices, there is hunger and a shortage of water. If they don’t end up as collateral damage in the war, starvation, and dehydration may kill them eventually.
Flip that switch and listen to how Nigerians present their issues and you will see the damaging effect of identity politics of hate and how it has damaged their psyche. They must always blame someone for their misfortune and most likely the authority or individuals seeking to go the extra mile to assist.
Our media will weaponize the situation from afar without a clear understanding or foot on the ground and begin their perilous journey of twisting the facts to sell an agenda for clicks and attention.
They will launch an investigation based on unfounded Social media reports that will confirm their bias and blithely level accusations at the authority for fraud until the situation gets worsened with their deliberate public incitement.
These corrupt, morbidly entitled, unethical practices and victimhood mindset represent the elements blighting the Nigerian space despite the abundant blessings with natural resources and talents (mostly talent dysmorphia).
Our media should win a global award for perfecting the art of assiduously scrubbing issues of their meaning.
There are lines never to vault over by the fourth realm of the estate if they hope to win trust, but ethics, professionalism, and corporate governance mean nothing to most of our media houses, filled with dumb sub-literates whispering unverified information, and combing social media for scoops as weapons of mass distraction.
#EndFascism
I hope @ruffydfire@OjyOkpe@abati1990@ARISEtv crew can see how proper journalism is done. Not sitting in the studio casting aspersions on every effort of well meaning people and government without proof.
The day I found out a lot of so called political influencers speaking for or against government were either looking for position or asylum status while chasing clout with their followers was the day I learnt to think for myself! 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
When clowns, comedians, dancers and musicians are called leaders in your community know that you have no leaders but puppets. In Nigeria some see skit makers as leaders and revolutionaries. That’s laughable.
