TIL Reddit's entire database was just two tables.
They keep a Thing Table and a Data Table. Everything in Reddit is a Thing: users, links, comments, subreddits, awards, etc. Things keep common attributes like up/down votes, a type, and creation date. The Data table has three columns: thing ID, key, and value. Thereβs a row for every attribute. Thereβs a row for title, url, author, spam votes, etc. When they add new features, they donβt have to worry about the database anymore. They didnβt have to add new tables for new things or worry about upgrades. Easier for development, deployment, and maintenance.

For most parents, digital devices have become a pacifierπ¬, it's a way to keep em quiet, and it's understandable, but ends up creating a dependency in the long run.
At Kiaan's(son's) school, no digital device is allowed and at home, we restrict screen time to 30 mins a day. But even then, it is crazy the addiction to reels/clips, I normally catch him browsing through that.
