Idaho just passed the most extreme transgender discrimination bill in the nation — requiring all patrons to use the restroom associated with their sex assigned at birth.
So can anyone explain to me how it’s going to work when these trans men walk into the women’s restroom?
There is a push among some orgs, "moderate" legislators, and even trans people to "give up the sports issue" in hopes that will stop hate.
I have watched moderates try this in 23 state houses.
It doesn't work. There's no amount of give you can offer that stops them from taking.
Holy shit.
A federal judge just ruled in Pennsylvania that LGBTQ+ topics, and books with trans characters, cannot be taught without parental permission/opt out.
He ruled in favor of this by comparing trans people to dogs and dissected frogs, which also require opt out, he says.
Just visited my first encampment, at Penn since I happen to be in town. Gonna do a little thread of my impressions. First, as you can see, ordinary campus life carries on around it undisturbed.
anytime i see one of these “lgb without the t” gays i think about the “association of german national jews,” a group of jews who stayed loyal to hitler hoping it would keep them in his good graces and after a few years he was like nice try! and put them all in concentration camps
A funny thing about living through your own slow genocide is that it’s impolite to talk about it! Eventually I’ll just go to my early grave, and it will be “a shame.” But if I clearly + truthfully say how society is killing me, I’m “extreme” or “paranoid.”
Part of the reason transphobes have focused so relentlessly on children, i.e., on denying the validity of childhood trans identities, is because they know those identities being seen as innate and natural leads to public acceptance the way it did with gay people.
um i permanently marked my body with ink???? i now have stupid ugly drawings on my body FOREVER??? i am forever ruined. this is the REALITY of tattoos that NO ONE talks about.
If your #ADHD friend hasn’t been in touch I promise they still love you. They just don’t have object permanence so if something is no longer in front of them their brain loses track of it. Trust me, when you reach out their eyes light up & they are so excited to hear from u!
It's #WorldSuicidePreventionDay!
As a suicidologist and someone who has experienced chronic suicidality since age 9, I want to offer some insights that mainstream prevention orgs don't often share. 🧵
