Clear signs of strength progress without max testing:
1. Technique and Coordination
Is the rep looking smoother than when they started?
That's stronger.
They're moving more weight with better form.
Did they jump from 30 to 40 pounds on dumbbell rows?
That’s a 10-pound win in strength.
2. Better Bar Speed with the Same Weight
If the bar’s moving faster at the same weight, they’ve gotten stronger, even if the numbers stay the same.
Their ability to produce force has increased.
3. Increasing Weight
Even a small increase counts.
If they’re lifting more now than before, progress is happening.
Especially if the trend continues across several months.
I think one of the biggest struggles that HS S&C coaches wrestle with (who are making the jump from college to HS) is catering to HS kids.
These kids don’t need fancy training, crazy methods, etc…They need consistency and to check boxes. All the other stuff (IMO) is fluff.
A clear sign that college football season is getting close...
Our first @ESPNCFB game promo just aired on College Football Live. @cfbireland is just 9 days away! #Farmageddon in Dublin.
Pitchers: arm care is not just bands & 3-5lb dumbbells.
✅Your warm-up is arm care.
✅Soft tissue work is arm care.
✅Proper lifting is arm care.
✅Mobility is arm care.
✅Nutrition/sleep is arm care.
✅Workload management is arm care.
✅And yes, forearm/scap exercises- also arm care.
Arm care requires a global approach, not just a 5-minute post-throwing routine.
As someone who does S&C for a living:
It’s not probably not going to win you more games. You still can’t suck at your sport. Will it (or should it) transfer some skill? Yes. Will it help with availability? It should.
It teaches discipline. But it’s just a piece of the puzzle.
Is Deceleration ability plane specific?
•
If so, we will need to bridge the gap from vertical forces experienced during a Depth Drop to Horizontal Forces experienced on the field or court 💥

Magnitude - Exposure - Capacity

@RUGBY_STR_COACH I made 40k a year being the HEAD s&c coordinator at a DII school. I loved collegiate athletes, but I’ll never sniff that arena again until they start paying what it should be.
