All mechanisms inactivate, causing NO transcription to occur. Lactose increases and glucose decreases

Positive mech. is inactivated. Now transcription is LOW. Glucose increases more, lactose is still low

I prefer glucose over lactose, but will only break lactose down when there is a low concentration of glucose.

The positive mechanism involves cAMP activating CAP to bind to promoter to allow transcription to occur.

An inducer ligand binds to the rep. protein on induc. operon to turn it on. A corepressor ligand binds to it on repress. one to turn it off.
