20 years with BIGBANG feels unreal to me. They’ve never been just a group I stan. They introduced me to a whole new genre, influenced so much of what I became interested in afterwards, and gave me years of work I still go back to for inspiration.

They went through massive highs, difficult periods and changes in the group, but somehow BIGBANG always remained BIGBANG. From kids practicing through the night before anyone knew their names to grown men still putting everything into a performance 20 years later, even after reaching a level where they really have nothing left to prove, there was always something genuine in how much they cared about their work.

I think that’s also why their influence ended up becoming as huge as it did. That same way of treating music as something personal, rather than just something to perform, reached far beyond their own career. So many artists who came after them grew up watching BIGBANG, and now another generation is discovering them all over again.

Happy 20 years to BIGBANG. I’m just really glad I got to find them, grow with their music and have all these years of their work to look back on. Twenty years later, they’re still here, still loved, and still giving people something to look forward to.
