"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"
Has to be one of the most misleading quotes by philosophers🤣🤣
Bruh, in a relationship, when you are absent, you expose your partner to things they could even achieve without your participation, and love shifts sadly.
Humans are naturally built to adjust, so gradually, they get so used to your non-participation in their lives to the extent your returned presence start being a hindrance/obstacle to the lives they already built without you.
I mean, go to Ago palace and ask those women if the absence of their traveling husbands made their hearts fonder, and listen to the hysterical laughter they’d let off.
Be there for people you claim to love. Talk things through whenever you can. Resolve inevitable conflicts amicably.
In Eric’s voice -• Don’t mention o. We don’t do that here.
As far as I am concerned, I also support a Muslim woman who decides to withhold financial support after a man she has been helping with bills decides to take another wife.
For a Muslim man to take another wife while his first wife has been supporting him financially, it suggests that he now considers himself financially capable of comfortably taking care of two wives and their children. In that situation, he should no longer need financial support from his wife. He is now a “strong man.”
For some men, the support they receive from their first wife may mislead them into believing they are financially capable enough to practice polygamy responsibly. A man in such a situation should not be given a soft landing or continuous support that may encourage irresponsibility. If the support continues, he may even proceed to add a third or fourth wife without adequate planning. Polygamy is not compulsory in Islam, but once a man chooses to practice it, he must be fully prepared for the responsibilities that come with it.
A woman in this kind of situation may decide to withdraw her financial support, provided that she still continues to take care of her children to the best of her ability, while the husband continues to fulfill his primary responsibilities as the man of the house since he has shown that he is financially capable. The rebuttable presumption when a man decides to practice polygamy is that he is physically, mentally, psychologically, and financially capable of doing so.
Therefore, no woman should be guilt-tripped for deciding to withhold her support in such circumstances.
Thank you.

This is my aunt and
We are urgently appealing to the general public, kind-hearted individuals, friends, and well-wishers to help save the life of Nurudeen Zainab, who is currently battling severe health complications.
Last year, Zainab went through a very difficult pregnancy that caused her blood pressure to rise dangerously high. Sadly, she lost the baby, and since then her health has continued to deteriorate. She is currently receiving treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, where she has been diagnosed with acute kidney disease, severe hypertension, and partial stroke complications.
At this critical stage, Zainab requires urgent and continuous medical care, including dialysis, medications, and other life saving treatments. Unfortunately, her family has exhausted all available resources trying to keep up with the overwhelming medical expenses.
We are therefore humbly appealing to the public to please support Zainab in this difficult fight for her life. No donation is too small, every contribution will go a long way in helping her receive the urgent treatment and care she desperately needs.
Your support, prayers, donations, and sharing of this appeal can make a huge difference.

On this polygamy issue… there’s a way Muslim men talk about it that brings disrespect to Islam and people say Islam is oppressive to women.
You guys talk about it as if it’s a trophy you won in a gender war not about two human beings, and also disregard for women’s feelings and emotions.
Someone got married the day his wife was put to bed, we raised concerns on total disregard for her conditions and we were called “bitter feminists” takfir’d for “hating polygamy” and men were hailing him for being a real man.
I said “I wouldn’t believe you love if you get married when am at the verge of death” and all the replies from men were laughing emojis as if women emotions and pain is something to be laughed about.
Someone tweeted about seeing a lady more beautiful than their wife and I saw a comment “thank God for being a Muslim” are you insinuating polygamy exists merely to satisfy your insatiable desires? Or women have become objects for you to pick any that seems good for you everytime?
This dehumanizing and objectifying behavior from Muslim men is what makes outsiders say Islam oppresses women and accuse people of Islamophobia when they point out your hypocrisy
How can I like this post more than once.. this is best take I have seen so far on this topic.. like someone said "not every permissible thing is necessarily suitable for every individual"
I don’t even think this is bad counsel. It actually isn’t. I agree that it leans very utopian, but the core message about patience, emotional regulation and trying not to destroy yourself over pain is not wrong.
What I think the post does not fully take into cognisance however is that there are women who simply cannot exist in a polygamous structure without losing themselves in many ways. Their understanding of marriage, intimacy, companionship and family is deeply rooted in monogamy and that is VALID too. So they do not want to be first wife, second wife or last wife. If they are not going to be the only wife, they want no part in it and this becomes even more difficult and a form of betrayal when conversations had already been had before marriage, expectations were set, reassurances were given, and certain promises made.
For these women, even if the man is “fair”, even if he practices polygyny in the most responsible way possible, the hurt will still remain. Not because they are lacking in deen but because some women simply are not wired for that kind of marital arrangement. You cannot force or gaslight people into adaptation so when such a woman chooses to leave, I don’t think it is fair to frame it as “overstretched emotions” or “destroying her home.”
If a man knows exactly how his wife feels about polygamy and still proceeds regardless, then whether intentionally or not, he has already altered the emotional contract of the marriage. Her leaving is not what broke their home, she is leaving because the home she agreed to no longer exists in the form she consented to 🤷🏽♀️

Let’s stop pretending second marriages are about happiness.
That man just told his first wife exactly how he feels about her.
Because here’s what nobody wants to admit you don’t go out and marry another woman while you’re still somebody’s husband because you’re full of love. You do it because you’ve run out of respect.
And we can dress it up in religion. We can call it culture. We can say “it’s his right” until we’re blue in the face. But rights don’t exist in a vacuum. Every right exercised on someone is felt by someone.
That first wife? She didn’t just lose a husband to another woman. She lost the version of herself that believed she was enough.
So no I’m not interested in the debate about whether it’s allowed. I’m interested in the part where we pretend the first wife should just be okay with what that choice communicates about her worth.
Getting married to a married man is a choice.
But marrying again while married? That’s not a love story. That’s a verdict. 🪬
Drop a 🤎 if you think the first wife’s feelings deserve to be part of this conversation.
If you know you have it in your action items to marry a 2nd wife:
- tell that first woman before you ever marry her,
- make sure she doesn't have a problem with it,
- sort your homefront b4 making it public.
So that your first wife isn't crashing out like this in public.
