Committed to a two state solution in the Middle East. We also aim to develop relationships between the Liberal Democrats and the British Jewish Community.
New: Labour's NEC has blocked its councillors from forming alliances with the Green Party to form local authority administrations
One Labour source says the "reputational risk" of working w the Green Party would have been a factor, following allegations of anti-semitism
I have rarely seen the Jewish world so united in revulsion than in its response to this shameful display. Such conduct is the very antithesis of our core Jewish values and an awful Chillul Hashem.
Last night, members of the LDFI Hon. Executive Committee, and Hon. Vice President @SarahLudford attended @IsraelinUK, Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day) event. Happy 78th Birthday to the State of Israel! 💙🤍
A Jewish schoolboy who says his classmates hissed at him to replicate the sound of a gas chamber, as well as threatened to vandalise his house with swastikas, has fought to introduce a new class on 'contemporary antisemitism' in his school to challenge these views.
Yesterday, we posted about Liberal Democrats Cllr Sam Ammar. Further review of her posts found:
🔴 Antisemitic Epstein conspiracy claims
🔴 A dual-loyalty bigoted trope
🔴 A modern version of the blood libel lie
She has no place in local politics, and the @LibDems must suspend her from the party.
While it’s been a turbulent week for the UK Jewish community, LDFI continues to pursue peace in the Middle East. Today we introduced moderate Palestinian leader @SSinijlawi to @EdwardJDavey to discuss PA corruption, its suppression of dissent, and how we can all defeat extremism
LDFI led this visit for @EdwardJDavey to Western Marble Arch Synagogue. As violent antisemitic attacks rise against British Jews & repeated hate marches pass this synagogue, its clear, the fear is real, but the message was also clear, the Jewish community are resilient and proud.
It was deeply moving to visit Western Marble Arch Synagogue. Hearing the community’s concerns and fears amid rising antisemitism in the UK was sobering, but their strength and resolve are truly remarkable. We stand with you.
Louise, whom I don't know, witnessed the massacre of Jewish children at Jerusalem's Sbarro pizzeria in 2001. Among the murdered: my 15 year old daughter Malki. It's 100 days to the 25th anniversary. Time to recall that the Hamas woman who engineered the atrocity lives free and famous in Jordan today. She needs to be extradited to Washington where federal terror charges have waited for her since they were unsealed in 2017.
For the first time in Gaza, power is transferred from Hamas to a newly elected municipal council in Deir al-Balah.
No declarations. No negotiations. Just a ballot box—and a handover.
While talks stall in Cairo, reality on the ground is moving faster.
Congratulations to Mayor Khalil Abu Samara and the new city council.
Proud to have supported one of the independent lists that is now part of this governing coalition.
Now it’s time to stand behind this new local leadership.
Their success is a success for all of us.
This is what change looks like.
My heart goes out to the Jewish community. As @monicabeharding says Jewish people must feel safe in the UK. There can be no place for antisemitism and the Government MUST do more to tackle antisemitism including online.
The attacks in Golders Green are horrific. Jewish people must feel safe in Britain. Violence and intimidation against them must stop. We must all speak out for the safety of Jews, recognise and call out antisemitism where and when we see it. And we need action against divisive content and hatred online. Here’s me on LBC with Iain Dale.
Wow wow wow. Take a minute to watch these incredibly powerful remarks from a Rabbi in London.
I’ll add - if you’ve never had to send a loved one an “are you ok?” text after yet another attack, kindly stfu.
