I listened to Ed Davey on the @BBCr4today this morning, and frankly, I think he missed the point.
The idea that we're keeping the triple lock to help millennials is at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting. I say that as a millennial.
The case for the triple lock is a worthy one - stopping pensioner poverty. I want that as much as anyone. But pensioners are now less likely to be in poverty than children or working age adults.
We talk about fairness, yet our answer is to give the same increase to every pensioner, treating the one choosing between heating and eating exactly the same as the one with millions in the bank. I can see no moral or fiscal case for above inflation rises for millionaires.
That money should go where it's needed most - to everyone in poverty, not just one group. It could help fund free personal care, a policy that would disproportionately benefit older people.
Ed is right that we shouldn't pit one generation against another. But intergenerational inequality is already one of the defining injustices of our time, and this would further entrench it. Worse, it gaslights an entire generation into believing it's for our benefit.
Telling millennials we're keeping the triple lock to help us in 30 years' time is nonsense. We're on course to be the first generation worse off than our parents. We're locked out of the housing market, paying higher taxes, repaying student loans that never seem to shrink, and putting off having children because of the cost of living.
I joined this party because I care about fairness and tackling inequality, and that has to include inequality between generations.
This line, and this decision, fails on both counts. Ed needs to think again.
The triple lock is not something promised to pensioners their entire working lives. It was introduced in 2011.
Removing it is not breaking any promise.
If anyone has any claim to say it has been promised to them, it is my generation. But my generation are the ones who are not going to get any state pension if we don’t scrap the triple lock soon.
If a foreign state has attacked the UK, you’d think all British politicians would unite in condemning that state. Not Reform. Their first response is to lash out at the Government, and try and make political capital out of the incident.
Security services of UK and US still trying to gather information on scale and nature of the threat. Either Nigel Farage understands the authorities can't release this information, and is playing politics. Or he doesn't, in which case it underlines why he isn't fit to be PM.
Right, let's knock this on the head now. If you're calling for the security services to release details about the identities of the suspects of an ongoing terror investigation less than 24 hours after the alleged attack, you're a moron. And you have no business even pretending to be a candidate for high public office.
One thing I didn’t fully appreciate. The footage with Farage was filmed during the Clacton by-election. The by-election that was literally called in an effort to draw a line under the Reform cash and sleaze narrative.
🚨 The @BritishArmy has been forced to stop a range of vital training, including live-fire tank exercises, because of a lack of money even as the government warns that the UK needs to be ready for war.
The decision - made with immediate effect - risks impacting the readiness of the whole force to be able to respond in a crisis.
This story was first reported by @thetimes & @TheSun - so I’m a bit slow but better late than never!

Entrapment is tricking a person into doing something unlawful that they had no intention of doing.
Entrapment is NOT providing an opportunity to commit a crime, it does not count as entrapment if the person is already willing and ready to break the law.
