In even more good news (perhaps 2020 has a silver lining after all...?) I received this in the mail last week! Beyond honoured to be the 2020 recipient of the CEW Bean Prize (Honours Division) for my @UsydSOPHI thesis on Australian soldiers and the environments of WWI 🥰
So proud of this interview with #Heartstopper’s @AliceOseman - @hellomag’s digital cover for Pride! It was a delight to talk to Alice about her life and career, and I’m so so happy to have been able to feature an ace and aro voice + story in HELLO! 💜🤍🖤 https://t.co/SN1cKz8BUE
It's October so obviously I'm only now spruiking my article published in the September edition of @RAHS_News History magazine because... what is time again? Anyway, can verify it has been enjoyed by humans and dogs alike 👍
This is an excellent day to talk about how damaging the cleansing of history is.
A lot of historic context would make today more understandable without just assuming people are being mean to Queen Elizabeth.
That colonial past is right there.
me at 16: I want to see my face on TV! I want to be a legend!
me now: I want to be a Gnome with a tiny shop in the woods where I cobble shoes. I’ll ride a goose to work and sip rain from an acorn mug, and my only worry is will there be enough pies for the name-day feast.
by the worldbuilding, incredible plotting (time travel is so hard to do right!), complex characters and of course the ROMANCE that took me completely by surprise but which I absolutely fell in love with. Best book I've read this year by far and now an all-time fave!!!
Words can't express how much I enjoyed THE KINGDOMS by @natasha_pulley. I picked it up from Dymocks last year intrigued by the premise of alternative history – what if the French had won at Trafalgar and Waterloo? Finished it this afternoon absolutely FLOORED +
And (last thing) helped out with a few other articles leading up to Anzac Day about Anzac figures Archie Barwick, Frank Crossley, Pompey Elliott, Billy Orchard, Tibby Cotter, and Fay Howe the "Lighthouse Girl". All readable on the Daily Telegraph online/other state's equivalent!
Did a lot of (nerve-wracking!) radio interviews today and last week about a fantastic new Anzac and family history resource that launched last week, Australian War Stories. Check it out: https://t.co/GNd8i6xLsg and check out me talking about it too, I suppose 👇
