Since I saw this photo couple of days ago, it just lingered in my mind stirring a sense of childhood nostalgia and quiet healing.

Growing up in poverty, I understood the joy and excitement of receiving a new bag. It meant someone cared enough to give me something of my own as I understood that my parents had to earn just enough to make ends meet.

Looking at these children, that same feeling rose up again, soft and familiar. I got fond of the design and thought how it was genuinely endearing and thoughtfully crafted.

This is the 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗮𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗼 campaign by the OVP. They’re more than just school supplies, they’re a quiet daily reminder printed right where a child’s eyes lands every morning: 𝘔𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴.

The owl wearing a green hat feels like an approachable and comforting companion. Set against a backdrop of clouds and greenery that mirrors VP Inday Sara’s passion for the outdoors and care for the environment drawn from her own experiences as a hiker and tree-planting advocate.

These children may not fully grasp the message but repetition has a profound way of sinking in. Seeing their own country’s name and a call to love it every single day is already powerful.

This is why I found this photo so moving. Imagine how far these PagbaBAGo bags have traveled ~ into remote corners of our country that many Filipinos do not even know exist. But the OVP did. VP @indaysara did. Because no Filipino child should ever be left behind by the government.

For kids in those far-flung areas most of us will never see, the dignity of walking to school with something decent on their back does more than just a material need. It plants a seed.💚💚💚
