okay, but maybe this is a horribly problematic imaginary to promote. I think it is well-warranted to explicate the failures of federal ag policy or critique a massive news outlet without advancing harmful (and frankly, false) narratives about what rural America looks like.

I’m not sure why it is so impossible to imagine a rural America that can and does look like the first image here — failing to do so is a serious disservice to rural people who are attempting to address crisis and consolidation in their own communities.
