RESIDENT DOCTORS BEGIN INDEFINITE STRIKE NOVEMBER 1
A fresh industrial crisis is set to hit the health sector as Resident Doctors on Monday declared what it described "a total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike" with effect from November 1 2025.
While accusing the government of demarketing their certificates to hold them down from travelling out of Nigeria, the Resident Doctors called on President Bola Tinubu to be careful of some politicians surrounding him saying they are deceiving him and do not mean well for him and planning many things when the strike starts.
The President of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr Mohammed Usman Suleiman, while reading a communique issued at the conclusion of its Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting, directed members to do a ward round and hand over their patients to consultants.
Among the 19-point demands include the immediate commencement of specialist allowance payments to all doctors, in recognition of their pivotal role in delivering specialist medical care across healthcare institutions nationwide and immediate correction of all entry-level placements of doctors to their appropriate salary grades, as well as the decentralisation and streamlining of promotion and upgrading processes to enhance efficiency in training and clinical service delivery.
