Alan Rickman gave Snape a tragic dignity that book-Snape never earned. In the text, he was Neville’s literal worst fear, mocked a 14-year-old girl’s physical appearance, and abused an orphan for having his bully’s face. The Pensieve didn't prove he was a good man, it proved a terrible man can still be weaponized for the right side of a war.

The fandom keeps confusing a complex character with a good person. Snape was a tragic, brave double agent, and he was also an abusive, petty adult who tormented children for a living. The Pensieve gave us context, not forgiveness. "Always" is an explanation, not an apology.
