“If we stop measuring climate change, there is no climate crisis”
“If we erase January 6th, it didn’t happen”
“If we don’t release certain inflation data, there’s no inflation”
“If we don’t measure food insecurity, no one’s hungry”
“If we delete research on right-wing violence, there’s no right-wing violence”
“If we stop Covid testing, we’ll have fewer cases”
The Trump administration is hiding data so you can’t truly see how corrupt and incompetent they are.
There's a physicist at Stanford named Safi Bahcall who modeled this exact principle and the math is wild.
He calls it "phase transitions in human networks." When you're stationary, your probability of a lucky event is limited to your existing surface area: the people you already know, the places you already go, the ideas you've already been exposed to. Your opportunity window is fixed.
When you move, your collision rate with new nodes in a network increases nonlinearly. Double your movement (new conversations, new cities, new projects) and your probability of a serendipitous encounter doesn't double. It roughly quadruples. Because each new node connects you to their entire network, not just to them.
Richard Wiseman ran a 10-year study at the University of Hertfordshire tracking self-described "lucky" and "unlucky" people. The single biggest differentiator wasn't IQ, education, or family money. Lucky people scored significantly higher on one trait: openness to experience. They talked to strangers more, varied their routines more, and said yes to invitations at nearly twice the rate.
The "unlucky" group followed the same routes, ate at the same restaurants, and talked to the same 5 people. Their networks were closed loops. No new inputs, no new collisions.
Luck isn't random. Luck is surface area. And surface area is a function of movement.
The lobster emoji is doing more work than most people realize. Lobsters grow by shedding their shell when it gets too tight. The growth requires a period of total vulnerability. No protection, no armor, soft body exposed to the ocean.
That's the cost of movement nobody posts about. You have to be uncomfortable first. The new shell only hardens after you've already moved.
🚨THE PAM BONDI HEARING BECOMES A SHIT SHOW
BREAKING: Chaos erupts after Pam Bondi is asked a simple question about how many co-conspirators she investigated.
Bondi evades and starts raising her voice. Innocent people do not act like this.
The chief law enforcement officer of the US government shouting indignantly about how she shouldn’t have to answer questions about a massive human trafficking scandal as long as the stock market is doing well is crazy. But it does explain how we got here as a society.
you wake up and reach for your phone before your eyes focus. scroll through a hundred thoughts that aren’t yours until your own voice sounds like someone you used to know and by noon you’ve consumed more information than your grandparents did in a year but can’t name a single thing that actually moved you. the feed keeps serving up other people’s lives and you keep swallowing them whole, mistaking the fullness for satisfaction when really you’re just bloated on nothing. you’ve become a processing unit instead of a person and the loneliest part is how normal it feels.
Republicans hate America. Democrats should’ve jumped on this talking point a long time ago. Republicans literally hate America and everything it stands for. That’s why they’re willing to embrace a fascist, that’s why they’re happy to watch this country turn into a dictatorship. Because when it comes down to it, Republicans hate everything this country stands for.
Kind of more striking who didn't speak at Charlie Kirk's funeral—neither of his parents, no siblings, no old friends, just his wife, Carlson, and a whole lineup of Trump people he maybe knew getting in their agenda talking points. He really was worth more to MAGA dead than alive
Just outrageously, insanely unconstitutional for an official government account to say this about religion. Jefferson and Madison are rolling over in their graves.
Since these people are busy rewriting their history and deleting their posts, here's how the "lower the temperature" right acted when they thought Charlie Kirk's shooter was a transgender liberal.
