Nihal Sarin on Kramnik after Daniel Naroditsky's death
"I cannot process how messed up some of these minds are. What do you get from ruining anyone’s life? Now, (Kramnik is) almost directly responsible for taking one."

This is the picture of a successful poker player, who won over $100,000 in his short pro career.
It's also the picture of Bosnian football coach Sergej Barbarez, who just guided Bosnia to the World Cup, winning a tie breaker with Italy.
Barbarez, who was a hugely successful striker in the Bundesliga, started playing pro poker after his football career, and then occasionally worked as a tv analyst for football games, where he would sometimes call out the national team for their performances.
And then they hired him as head coach!
Get this, Barbarej never coached a proper football team before his appointment to the Bosnian national team position in 2024. And his team is now playing a World Cup.

You pay for Amazon Prime assuming it means ad-free content as a paid, premium user. And then you discover ads interrupting your streaming content. You pay again for ad-free option. And then you find ads in web series released on MX Player playing on Prime. And then you discover that not all content is available free. You have to pay to ‘rent’ a movie. You try to watch Indian Idol on Sony LIV as a paying premium subscriber only to be interrupted by ads every 5 min. In a 15-min sports highlight section you are served 5 ads. The brand team shapes what the product experience is.
You whine about all this on social media. The brands ‘listen’ to you through a dedicated team and the bots or real humans reply with the templated ‘oh, that’s not the experience we’d like you to have. Please DM us with your contact number’. And then nothing happens. Nothing changes. Life goes on. You continue to suffer through intrusive ads.
But advertising gurus and marketing pundits say that ‘consumer is in control’. Of what exactly? We are told that marketing is now in the hands of the consumer and they set the narrative. I really don’t see how. At best, consumers can ‘block’ ads when they can (such as the skippable YouTube ad or take the ad-free Premium option over there) through ad blockers on browsers. They can choose not to follow your brand’s content on social or simply find other ways to ignore your brand’s content by not paying attention. In some cases consumer feedback has resulted in ads being tweaked or taken off air. But how is all this deemed as ‘consumer is in control’?

I had to cancel my holiday to rescue that shitshow 😂……broadcasts have moved on from polished presenters and autocue! You better have something special to offer the audience or you’re fucked #GoodLuck
@Zee5, your " FIFA WC 2026 plan needs to be called out even more harshly. Web browser streaming is capped at SD/480p “due to anti-piracy, while FHD/1080p is only available on the app. 480p for a paid World Cup stream in 2026 is ridiculous. #zee5#fifaonzee5
@IndianSportsOTT I paid for Zee5 via JioFiber for years but not when it's finally useful they took away WC from the bundle. Hope this company goes bankrupt.
