@tammyswansonsgf@lgbtzamo@katya_zamo I never bothered with W&G because I thought they were boring characters. Didn’t realise Jack & Karen were in it until a while later and literally carried the whole show
@MattBobBrad @marrowing This was a big problem in the Brisbane City Council elections in 2024; they were on one hand campaigning for more housing (proposing to turn a racecourse into public housing) but also appealing to NIMBYS who don’t want development in their suburb spending on the electorate
@sbectacular@marrowing They are deeply petit-bourgeois. I guess having roots in environmental activism has always attracted the educated middle classes to the Greens. Apart from MCM, their messaging doesn’t appeal to working class people, even if a lot of their policies would benefit them
@tuppaware American malls tend not to have supermarkets in them. Australian malls are more of a hub of their community than in the USA. Better public transport to them in Australia too. Most US ghost malls are in the rust belt, Australia doesn’t really have an equivalent to that
@Alex7Shiro@Martina Yes and voting is compulsory too. Voter suppression is a completely alien concept to us. Elections are held on Saturdays as well, to make it easy for most people to attend in person.
@eszewczuk @_CaesarSoze@JohnBishop100@JeremyClarkson He’s also chosen to compare Nicola Sturgeon to Rose West. This is the same misogyny Julia Gillard had to deal with from conservative old media hacks when she was Australian PM.
