@ChrisMWilliams I live in NW suburbs of Chicago. This is a win for Illinoisans. Indiana taxpayers can deal with that headache. Why its so unpopular is beyond me.
@BauerOutage I believe up to a certain skill level you are 100% correct. But players begin to diverge into two sets of people: those that are cerebral and take initiative in what and how they are develop, and those that are just interested in having things programmed for them.
@nickkokonas@thePaulruss@nytimes@nytopinion You're conflating wealth creation (which is good for society) with tax avoidance (which shifts the burden to others).
The societal reward for risk-taking is wealth. Asking why the wealthy can "double-dip" by using step up basis and estate tax avoidance is a fair question IMO.
@nickkokonas@FearTheBako Interesting about it being the philosophical "last" invention.
If it leads to rapid expansion of our limit of knowledge, great. I'm more curious if it's eventually capable of letting us escape any local maxima we're currently stuck at (physics). If so, you're 100% correct.
@AlZeidenfeld I think its obvious he's off to the best start of a pitching career ever.
My favorite career prime was 99-02 Randy Johnson. The fact that he was that dominant approaching 40 breaks my brain.
@JustinMacmahan@joeyfreeze@JeffKCollins Totally get that argument and am in agreement that its not optimal to pick blue. In a toy game, I'm absolutely team red.
However, it IS optimal to live in a society where blue gets overwhelmingly picked. Everyone collectively benefits.
@JustinMacmahan@joeyfreeze@JeffKCollins The philosophical point, and likely the reason we're all here today, is that the common good being put first at some cost to you personally can (and often is) better overall for that community.
Do you measure this as an EV function for yourself, or for the community?
@JeffKCollins@FrankRyanPatti I legitimately have no idea what I'd do if actually facing it. Obviously red, but...im actively hurting my young toddlers' chances. Can't really bring myself to do that.
Also, cannot tell if you're being 100% serious or if you're farming.
@JeffKCollins@FrankRyanPatti My 2 and 3 year old kids, in a private vote, will button mash. Complete random chance they pick red or blue. The 11 year old got it right first try, though.
