Quick update!!!
Being 40 and pursuing a BSc in Europe isn't the problem.
The real challenge is being unable to explain why you need the degree now and what you've been doing up to this point.
If you're applying for a BSc or MSc at 40, pay close attention to your CV.
Your timeline should clearly show that the course is a natural progression in your career not that you're pressing the reset button and using education as a backdoor to get to Europe.
After gaining admission, getting your visa approved is the next major hurdle to cross.
That is why you should target European countries with low visa rejection rate like:
Iceland 🇮🇸
Switzerland 🇨🇭
Finland 🇫🇮
Italy 🇮🇹
Luxembourg 🇱🇺
Austria 🇦🇹
Germany 🇩🇪
France 🇫🇷 etc…

You must target low tuition universities.
If a European university rejects your application and tells you that you have the right to appeal, don't assume it's a second chance to rewrite your application.
An appeal is not an opportunity to submit a better SOP, improve your CV, or explain yourself more clearly.
In most cases, the admissions committee has already made its academic judgment.
An appeal is only worth pursuing if:
• The university made an administrative error.
• They overlooked documents you submitted before the deadline.
• They miscalculated your qualifications.
• You can prove the decision was based on incorrect information.
If none of these applies, your energy is usually better spent preparing a stronger application for the next cycle or applying elsewhere.
Sometimes, moving on is the smarter strategy.

Applying through public scholarship calls isn't the only way to fund a Master's or PhD in Brazil.
Directly contacting professors whose research aligns with yours is a proven strategy to secure supervision and funding.
Here is how to do it right 👇
Japa Burdens Part One.
1) Getting scholarships that involves you going back to your home country after the scholarship. Examples of such scholarships includes Chevening Scholarships, MEXT Scholarships and Australia awards etc.
2) Spouse removing the other partner from Work Visa or student Visa. This happens a lot in the UK 🇬🇧.
3) Loneliness : many people are lonely abroad because their families and friends are far away from them. It has led many to depression.
4) Family Expectations (Black Tax): Once you Japa , some people automatically believe you are rich and they’ll start placing huge financial burdens on you.
5) Immigration Uncertainty: There are a lot uncertainties around immigration such visas renewals , changing immigration laws (like UK 🇬🇧 is doing now) and the fear of losing status can cause constant anxiety.
6) Starting from the Scratch:
Your qualifications, experience and social status may not immediately carry the same weight in a new country.
7) Racism and Discrimination: some immigrants face unfair treatments because of their accent, name, nationality, skin colour or immigration status.
I’ll stop here and continue tomorrow.
All the best in your Japa journey
