What Is Internet Identity 2.0?
Before we start discussing the technology update, let’s begin with the basics. One of the most commonly used methods to authenticate on the Internet Computer is Internet Identity.

Internet Identity ♾ is a blockchain-based authentication framework supported by the Internet Computer.
Users start by creating identity anchors ⚓️, to which they link compatible cryptographically enabled devices, such as a laptop’s fingerprint sensor , a phone’s face ID system 🪪, or a portable HSM like a YubiKey or Ledger wallet.
After that, they can sign up and authenticate to dapps running on the Internet Computer using any of the devices assigned to their anchor.

Internet Identity 2.0 is the new version of the authentication system, designed to simplify and make secure account login more user-friendly.

🗝️Key Improvements of Internet Identity 2.0:

Passkeys: Use your own device, like a smartphone, to store private keys, leveraging the latest security standards.

No More Identity Numbers: No need to remember or store identity numbers anymore, making the login process much simpler.

Google Sign-in: Now you can use a Google Account, making registration more convenient for billions of users.

Redesigned Interface: A fully refreshed, intuitive design for the login process.

Multiple Accounts: Create multiple accounts for a single application from one identity, removing the hassle of managing separate identities for different roles.
