@LoganBethFisher @teachkate That is what I found. I actually could not physically wake up my daughter from it, and anything I did to try to soothe her would only cause more agitation, so I had to just ride it out, making sure she was safe in the process. Those were such loooong nights!
@teachkate My daughter had night terrors too. She never remembered them, but, as a parent, it was terrible to witness. I never find a solution, but she did outgrow then after a couple years. My thoughts are with you, and I truly hope you find a remedy to ease/prevent them!
@teacher2teacher 🔺Teaching will take up as much space in your life as you allow it, so be intentional with your work/life boundaries. 🔺Self-care is not selfish. 🔺Respect, Relationships, and Rigor, in that order. 🔺Find your marigold: https://t.co/8B6Qyaf47d 🔺Remember your WHY 🧡
@TeachMrReed I usually don't make a big deal of it or acknowledge it unless it becomes habitual, but, as a person who is often late, I am really liking the idea of #2 🙂
@teacher2teacher@Tolerance_org I give them a pencil. It is more important to me for Ss to be able to participate in the learning during class. I stock up during sales, and as I walk the halls I pick up abandoned pencils to put in my classroom student supply center. Learning is the priority.
@PublixHelps @QDesamours “In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be antiracist.” —Angela Davis // @Publix You have a choice: continue to hide behind some flimsy policy that is inconsistently enforced OR change the policy and actively support this moral and ethical movement! #BLM
Seeking encouraging words for all teachers out there who feel like they're barely hanging on. Please share quotes, links, thoughts, memes, anything that is helping you get through this.
Thank you. 🌻
@SteeleThoughts@Angela_Watson The heaviest hitters to my workload is 1) paperwork: please limit lesson plans, misc forms, parent contact log, D's/Fs grade log, etc, 2) emails: please combine into a daily summary whenever possible, and 3) coverage for ISS and classes with no sub: please protect plan periods!
@amazon please offer a choice in shipping carriers or stop using flimsy envelopes when packaging books. My @USPS mail carrier bends EVERY. SINGLE. BOOK! Today's package was to be a gift but has a not-so-gift-worthy crease.
@JanetPlanet20@teacher2teacher I suggest start as co-teachers. Introduce then work through a few lessons together, taking turns talking, guiding, instructing. Gradually release responsibility over the next few weeks until they can independently lead a lesson. Then walk away and let them shine ✨ So empowering!
@PresidentPat I tell my students to pay attention with their face (make eye contact, listen to who is speaking, close your mouth so no talking or making noises). It also reminds me to stop the multitasking when a student is speaking—put down the pen, look at them, really hear them.
