We are concerned about the progress of the current fleet overhaul, given that the operable fleet on the MRT Kajang Line has dropped to 38 trains. This is not sustainable to maintain a frequency of 4 minutes, as recent days have required 42 trains.

Seusai majlis di KL Sentral, YB Loke Siew Fook, Menteri Pengangkutan, meneruskan lawatan kerja ke Stesen Segamat dengan menaiki ETS EG9321 dari KL Sentral ke Segamat. Sepanjang perjalanan,
The only bottleneck is KL Sentral to Seremban. Many sections are constrained to about 60-90km/h. Gemas to Segamat extension is good because it’s relatively straight. There may be consideration to make a bypass.
KL to Segamat ETS covers 192 km in 2 hours 51 minutes, averaging about 67 km/h.
At this pace, KL to JB would take a disastrous 4.5 hours.
The rail's potential speed of 160 km/h remains super underutilized.
@OldCentral@transitmalaysia No, unfortunately. From quick general searching a train wheel would last 2-3 years. Some trains run the entire 18 hours on weekends.
@OldCentral@transitmalaysia (2/2) There are plans to boost peak services to have 42 trains on the line. We are very short of those numbers for a healthy spare train ratio of 10%. We need 47-50 operable trains which will take a while. Not possible to meet the April 2025 target.
@OldCentral@transitmalaysia (1/2) Overhaul (not interior refurbishment) usually would take out 1 to 2 trains per month at a time depending on how quick it may be completed. Ampang line trains could be done in 2 months including testing. However, there are only 41 operable trains right now.
