為了防止因翻譯錯誤而引起的誤會，下方附上英文版本。若有翻譯上的錯誤，還請見諒。

난조 的 TW 版本名字已從「蘭朝」更改為「難祖」，以與韓國版中設定的漢字名字一致。

首先，對於因我的疏忽而在各國讀者之間引發的衝突，我再次由衷地表達歉意。由於漢字在視覺上直觀顯眼，我擔心會影響 Bomtoon TW 讀者的閱讀沉浸感，因此選擇了承擔與部分非法網站使用的名字重疊的風險，這是完全出於我判斷上的錯誤，責任在我。將 난조 的漢字名更改為「蘭朝」以及之後又改回的過程中，並未受到任何外部壓力或強迫，這些都是我個人的決定，因此也由我承擔全部責任。為了處理這件事，我傾盡所能思考並真誠傳達了我的想法，懇請大家不要再因這件事產生誤會與爭議。感謝所有為我擔心與給予支持的朋友，也對因此造成困擾再次致上歉意。透過這次事件，我深刻體會到有這麼多人努力保護我與其他創作者免於非法翻譯所帶來的侵害，有這麼多人不論個人喜好，都尊重我的創作意圖並照原貌愛著這部作品，更有這麼多人將我的健康與安穩放在第一位深切關懷。在無法完全理解這份深情之前，我曾以為追求名字在視覺上的美感更能優先顧及讀者的感受，現在我才明白，這樣的想法太過短視。對於大家如海般深厚的理解與愛，我再次深深感謝。

另外，除了與非法網站重名的問題，也有部分讀者對作品意圖產生疑慮，對此我想進一步說明。

作品角色的漢字名字，事實上與作品本身的藝術創作意圖並無關聯。所有角色的名字皆是以韓文發音為基礎創作，漢字名字僅為角色的細部設定之一，並不會影響作品既定的走向或人物性格。在原始的韓文版本中不會出現角色的漢字名字，因此我只是在個人 SNS 上回覆了出於好奇而詢問的讀者。但在角色設定未實際出現在作品之前，都不能視為作品內容的一部分。為避免使用 SNS 的讀者與不使用的讀者之間產生資訊落差，我在 SNS 上提供的資訊最終只能是輔助性的補充。

난조 的漢字名字為「難祖」，是因為「蘭」字在韓國屬於不可用於姓名的禁用字。這一點也是我在準備這部作品時才得知的，我推測在我這一輩的韓國人當中，也很少人知道這件事。因此，난조 的漢字名被設定為「難祖」，但若僅從名字來源來看，使用「蘭」字其實也並非完全不合理。這段由來其實是我在連載將近 30 話期間一直沒有公開的內容，原本打算在第一季完結後才正式說明，現在卻不得不提前在最終話前揭露，略感遺憾。不過我會如先前所承諾，在後記中詳細解釋名字的由來。

相對地，목연 名字中的「淵」字，是從最初設定的「軟」更改而來的。這是因為我後來得知「淵」是韓國的「長水黃氏」第 23 代的行列字（항렬자），認為其更符合韓國文化背景。恰巧在同一時期，西班牙語版本的標題定為「Al borde del abismo」，與「淵」字意義相同，讓這個字對我更具象徵意義。因此，목연 在 TW 版本中的漢字名「睦淵」，將與最終的韓國設定一致並維持不變。

我在創作時，習慣對即使不會直接出現在作品中的設定也進行詳細補足，角色的漢字名字便是其中之一。再次強調，原始版本中角色的名字皆以韓文字標記，命名基於韓語發音而非漢字含義，因此漢字名與作品的走向、角色個性或劇情進展皆無關聯。不論他的漢字名為何，對我而言他永遠是我珍貴的「은난조」。

在作品內容與劇情發展上，我絕不妥協。我相信這點最清楚的，莫過於我的責任編輯以及一直以來閱讀我作品的讀者們。不論讀者的國籍或種族，我始終對所有在正規平台上支持與鼓勵我創作的讀者們抱持著感激與愛的心情並真誠表達。但讀者們的意見並不會改變我原先設定的內容。一直以來有不少人向我提出各種建議與疑問，有時甚至因故事未如其所願發展、未出現想看的場面或出現了不想見到的場景而感到失望。但這部作品始終不受反饋左右，依照我原本的構想前進，未來也將如此。請大家放心，作品內容絕不會因任何外部因素而有所更動。

為了在我這裡劃下句點，往後我將不再就名字問題進行任何回覆或說明。如果各位親愛的讀者願意讓這部作品能夠僅以作品本身存在，並讓我能專注於創作，那將是我最深的感激。雖然我無法逐一回覆目前收到的大量私訊，但每一封為我擔心、努力解釋當前情況、為我的決定加油打氣、傳達不變支持與深厚愛意的訊息（還有如雪片般飛來的購買證明！）我都收到了。再次誠摯地感謝大家的心意。

最後，這是我相信所有一直追隨我作品的讀者都已明白的事情，但既然被詢問了，我想再正式說一次：

我強烈反對盜版翻譯。這是我的官方立場。

To prevent misunderstandings that may arise from translation errors, I’m writing in English, too.

Nanjo’s name in the TW version has been changed from ‘蘭朝’ to ‘難祖’, to match the hanja name (i.e., his name in Chinese characters) setting of the Korean version.

First of all, I would like to express my sincere apology once again for the conflict that arose between readers of different countries due to my oversight. I was concerned that the visible Chinese characters might hinder immersion for Bomtoon TW readers, and I made the decision to use a name overlapping with one adopted by illegal sites, thinking I could bear the consequences. This was no one’s fault but clearly a mistake in my judgment. There was absolutely no external pressure or coercion involved in the change from ‘蘭朝’ to ‘難祖’ and then back to ‘蘭朝’. These were entirely my decisions, and I take full responsibility for them. I have done my utmost to think through this matter and tried my best to convey my thoughts sincerely. I hope there will be no further misunderstanding or conflict over this issue. Thank you to everyone who worried about me and supported me. I am truly sorry for the concern this situation has caused.

Through this incident, I came to realise just how many people are trying to protect the rights of myself and other creators from the harm of illegal translations; how many people are willing to respect my intention and love the work as it is, regardless of their personal preferences; and above all, how many people genuinely care about my health and wellbeing. I was not fully aware of those feelings, and I now realise that my belief that choosing a name with a better aesthetic sound would be more considerate toward readers was short-sighted. I am deeply grateful for your immense understanding and love.

Apart from the issue of the name overlapping with illegal sites, I’d also like to clarify some concerns raised about the intention behind the work.

The hanja names of the characters are, in fact, unrelated to the core artistic intent of the work. All the character names were created based on their Korean pronunciation. The hanja names were later added as part of the characters’ detailed background settings, but they do not influence the already established direction of the story or the characters’ personalities. Since the hanja names do not appear in the original Korean version, I only responded to readers’ personal curiosity via my personal social media. However, setting details are not part of the story until they appear in the actual work. To avoid creating an informational gap between readers who follow me on social media and those who do not, the information I share online must remain supplementary in nature.

Nanjo’s hanja name ‘難祖’, as part of the character’s detailed background, was given considering the fact that ‘蘭’ is a restricted character not used in names in Korea. I learned this while preparing the work, and I suspect that not many people of my generation in Korea are aware of this fact. According to Korean naming regulations, Nanjo’s hanja name was set as ‘難祖’, but based solely on the origin of the name, using ‘蘭’ would not be entirely inappropriate either. Although I’ve kept this origin a secret for nearly 30 chapters, as many have asked about it, I intended to reveal it only after the end of Season 1. It’s a bit unfortunate that I have to mention this before the conclusion, but I will explain it in detail as promised in the epilogue.

In contrast, the change in the hanja character of Mokyeon’s ‘Yeon’ from the original setting ‘軟’ to the current ‘淵’ was because I later learned that ‘淵’ is a generational name (hangnyeolja) for the 23rd generation of the Jangsu Hwang family clan in Korea, and I felt it was more appropriate culturally. Coincidentally, around the same time, the ES version title was confirmed as ‘Al borde del abismo’, and the meaning of ‘淵’, which matches ‘abismo’, became more significant to me. Therefore, Mokyeon’s current hanja name in the TW version, ‘睦淵’, is the same as the final Korean setting, and it will remain that way.

I tend to create detailed settings even for parts not directly appearing in the work. The hanja names of the characters are part of those settings. Again, in the original Korean version, all names are written in Hangul, and they were created based on pronunciation, not hanja meanings. Therefore, the hanja names are irrelevant to the story’s direction, the characters’ personalities, or the narrative progression. Whatever the hanja name may be, to me, he will always be my precious ‘Eun Nanjo’.

I never compromise on the content or direction of my work. I believe my PD and readers who have followed my story know this best. I have always expressed heartfelt gratitude and love to readers who support me through official platforms, regardless of nationality or race. However, reader opinions cannot change the predetermined content of my work. Over time, I have received countless comments, questions, and even complaints when the story did not unfold as some readers hoped. Nonetheless, the story continues as I intended, and will remain that way. So please rest assured—external factors will never alter the narrative.

To bring this situation to a close on my end, I will no longer comment on or respond to any further questions about names. I would be truly grateful if you could allow the work to stand on its own and help me focus on creating. Although I cannot respond to the many DMs I’ve received, I want you to know that I have received all your concerns, explanations, support, and unchanging love (And all those purchase proofs, too!). Once again, thank you deeply from the bottom of my heart.

Lastly, though I believe this is something everyone who has followed me already knows well, I say it now because I was asked:
