As someone who watched BL dramas before it even become a mainstream genre, I totally agree with OP!! It was really hard to find a well acted, directed and with a good plot BL to watch before!! So seeing more BL dramas with better quality than before is really a dream come true🥳

As someone that's been to every japanese filmfestival for the last 12 years and is a big fan of japanese cinema I gotta say something.
I have actually started out watching Japanese BL, back back back in the day. It was terrible. If they even kissed (in 90% of the time they didn't) they kissed like you'd kiss your kinda weird greasy aunt on the cheek.
For years JBL didn't dare to do shit. Their adaptions of yaoi manga were toned down, desexualized, the uke would always look scared and uncomfortable, or it was always bordering sexual assault, always linking queerness to something forbidden, taboo and predatory. KBL was not much better either, sterilised stories that left most to the imagination in fear of having those poor actors touch eachother.
It was Thai BL that actually made me enjoy BL, because they actually showed gay people as humans who love each other and all have different life stories and character arcs.
It was the success of Thai BL that made japanese and korean creators finally dare to change their tune and make some higher quality shows.
It's okay if you like JBL and KBL more, we all have our preferences, but give Thailand some credit, recognise that your constant need to compare and drag could actually just be xenophobia.
