A creative midfielder, a rwb that can actually do something, (cause Emerson is trash, Spence doesn't have experience and Doherty isn't able to play the whole season as a starter). He got a great deal and also Thiago was already experienced, and a top midfielder with a winning mentality. I think, most of the coaches would choose Thiago back then, under those circumstances.

Decent player, good for rotation. Not a serious upgrade, as we need a more creative midfielder for a place in the starting 11

He's right footed, but he mainly plays on the left side, so it might not be bad trying him there. Worst case scenario, Dier plays lcb as he can use both of his feet.
