Police are investigating a tragic incident in which a 48-year-old woman was killed by her 25-year-old son in the North West province.

According to reports, the boy allegedly attacked his mother with a spade. A neighbour, upon hearing the commotion, rushed to intervene and shot the boy in an attempt to stop the assault. The boy was believed to be using drugs.

Police have confirmed that the suspect died at the scene.
