I’ve just spent the Easter weekend in Portugal 🇵🇹 doing rock pool surveys, looking at the distribution of Anemones, Algae and Limpets. The study site is at Monte Clérigo.
Lots of algae, could be slippy.

Our hydrophones record the sounds of the ocean. We mostly hear the sounds of grouper and squirrelfish, but recently, they picked up the eerie calls of a humpback whale! 🐳

Two weeks ago I organised a “Plastic then Pizza” social for my masters cohort @SussexUni. I’m pleased to say we collected 8 bags of plastic tree guards that were in desperate need of removing!

This giant oceanic manta, Mobula briostris, was spotted feeding in the shallows of Long Beach over the weekend.
