I feel like James Gunn should write The Brave and the Bold. He clearly has a strong vision for Batman in the DCU, and having him pen the script would help ensure the character fits seamlessly into the larger universe he’s building.
You Guys AGREE?
100% agree, I really liked this movie, but what you said about her not having the pull for general audiences is true. Hopefully this resonates with Gunn and he gets the ball rolling a lot faster on Batman, Flash, The Titans, etc.
Supergirl is not great but it’s very far from bad
- the visuals of this film are very good tho they aren’t as colorful as the book
- the main cast shines, Milly is great as supergirl, Jason momoa IS lobo, Eve Ridley is great as Ruthye, and all of them have great chemistry
- the story does really well with handling emotional moments, and you genuinely feel for the characters involved.
- the action is also really great, with some of the flight sequences being some of the best we’ve seen (camera work wise)
- for those worried about Wonder Woman and the titans with Ana writing I don’t think you have anything to be worried about bc the script absolutely is not an issue with this film.
- that being said the main thing that holds this film back for me is it just kind of feels like a side quest and one that isn’t needed
-krem is weak as a villain and further adds to the previous point, the story itself just seems very small scale and while that can work at times I don’t think supergirl has the motion necessary to get normies to buy into that kind of story.
- the only other flaw I can really think of outside of those is some of the song choices aren’t the best, and one of the worst songs is during an action sequence.
- lastly the movie isn’t very similar to guardians of the galaxy at all outside of it being a space adventure with a group of bad “ravagers”
Overall I’d give it a 7.5/10, not a banger but also not a negative like some were making it out to be.
Supergirl does NOT deserve all the negative reviews its getting . It’s a good film. If the film didjt work for you, fine , but if you’re just calling it bad because of weird Gunn hate then that’s disingenuous.
With the that being said I do think it’s time for Gunn to put MAJOR focus on his heavy hitters. I’m talking obviously Superman, Batman and WW, but also The Flash ,Aquaman, The Titans and ofc the Lanterns etc.
I love Supergirl, but she doesn’t have enough pull to be the 4th Pillar of the DCU. Hopefully this motivates Gunn to not rush, but hit the pedal on The Brave and the Bold because this universe needs Batman, Nightwing and the rest of the Batfamily and rogues ASAP.
Supergirl is a good movie, very simple, but effective storyline, with a very underwhelming villain.
Action was very peak , Supergirl and Lobo (as well as Superman ofc) were awesome and can’t wait to see more of them . Really loved Ruthye as well.
Best part of the movie was just seeing all the Lore of the Kryptonians and Krypyon. That had me hooked.
Overall I’d give it a 7.5/10
