Many people still fail to understand how deep the anger inside Syria really is.

For more than a year, the transitional government in Damascus, led by Ahmad al‑Sharaa, has acted with restraint and responsibility. After the fall of Assad, the priority was clear: stabilize the country, reopen Syria to the region and the world, and give people a reason to believe in the future again. Diplomatic ties were restored with Arab states and Western capitals. Investments were pursued to begin reconstruction. Even symbolic moments- such as al-Sharaa meeting Donald Trump in May 2025- sent a strong signal that Syria was no longer isolated. For millions of Syrians, this created something they hadn’t felt in years: real hope!

That fragile progress is now under constant attack.

Remnants of the Assad regime, the PKK-aligned Syrian Democratic Forces and their parallel political structures, and Israeli-backed militias in the south continue to undermine stability. They provoke clashes, resist integration, and actively work to pull Syria back into chaos. Tensions in Aleppo, the Alawite coastal areas, and Druze regions like Suweida are not random- they are pressure points deliberately exploited to reignite conflict.

After nearly 15 years of war- the deadliest conflict of this century- Syrian anger is not extremism. It is a natural response to endless suffering. Hundreds of thousands were killed. Millions were displaced. Entire cities were destroyed. When people demand decisive action against armed spoilers and foreign-backed militias, it comes from exhaustion, not hatred.

So far, al-Sharaa and his government have chosen restraint. They have prioritized dialogue, integration deals, and political solutions over military escalation. Agreements were offered. Time was given. Bloodshed was avoided whenever possible. But this restraint cannot last forever. The pressure from the street is growing, and the demand is clear: Syria must be unified, sovereign, and free from proxy forces!

Al-Sharaa himself has warned that giving in to full-scale military escalation would be a disaster unlike anything Syria has seen before. That warning should be taken seriously- by everyone!

The responsibility now lies with the spoilers. Assad loyalists should leave and stop treating Syria as their last battlefield. Israeli-backed militias must stop fueling instability and start serving their own communities. And the SDF must fully integrate into the Syrian state or accept disarmament. Parallel armies and autonomous enclaves are incompatible with a sovereign country!

Syrians are done paying the price for other people’s wars. No more proxy conflicts. No more dragging a wounded nation back into the abyss. The choice is simple: compromise now- or face consequences that no one will be able to control.
