Silicon Valley forgot to build for the middle market, the 350K HNW business owners employing 40% of America’s payroll.
Today, we’re fixing that.
@FlexSuperApp's $60M Series B equity round led by @portageinvest, building the "AI-Native Private Bank" for HNW owners.
@dunkhippo33 I find that good rest becomes crazily important when I'm doing things involving lots of ambiguity because I really need the mental clarity.
But when it's execution / grind time, I can power through 80h work and still be productive.
Need help from my network! Looking to chat with anyone who does freelance consulting (full time or on the side). I'm interested to learn more about their experience and workflow.
Hmu if anyone comes to mind!
Omg I oscillate between Singapore and SF too. I'll add NYC to the SF part as well.
SF = inspired by frontier tech, startup entreprenuer vibes
NYC = inspired by the hustle, the size of underserved markets (just cause you have so many more types of people and occupations), possibly closer to users as well.
The essence is that there are actually 2 problems here.
1) The problem she is stating
2) She is not getting enough emotional support on her experience with the problem she is stating.
Then prioritize the problems. Think about which is the more urgent AND also which problem is the one where you the best person to solve.
@michlimlim@chatgptpulse_@interaction Exactly my thought when I built Astra last year. https://t.co/aa56x8NPzL
Now we're taking those insights and building https://t.co/ZYkE7SoBde. - the EA for solopreneurs.

Help, first day back on X after a few weeks and I'm reminded of why I left.
Nothing against ppl wanting to build in SF but imagine equating level of ambition to the city you're living in. Sounds like a cop out for a good process of evaluating people.
@michlimlim@BusinessInsider@tankwanwei Did 1 & 3! What's you're best advice for 2? Is it more serendipitous or intentional (like professional coaching?)
Been building https://t.co/1usR2MH0Kg for a few months now. Most of the times, it's been hard. Mostly rejections and people ignoring us.
But just a week ago, one of our customers shared that Kawara got her 2 new customers. That's a $12.50 acquisition cost for a $6k revenue for the month.
Stories like this keep us going!
@levelsio I guess that's a sign that a lot of these products don't have a solid moat yet, even though they already have seemingly huge success. Which is a lot of the AI product industry right now
Have you noticed how AI companies seem to launch new products weekly, each one accompanied by extravagant claims? We're clearly in a hype cycle.
But beneath the noise, I've been thinking about which companies will actually survive when the bubble inevitably bursts. And my conclusion is that the companies that last will be those that truly deliver on their promises.
I recently discovered a fascinating example that perfectly illustrates this principle: Surge AI. Never heard of them? That's exactly the point.
Surge AI is a data labeling services company founded five years ago that now generates over $1 billion in revenue annually. The kicker? They raised zero venture funding. They bootstrapped the entire operation.
Their closest competitor, Scale AI, is far more famous and has raised massive rounds of venture capital. Yet Scale generates about $850 million annually - less than Surge's billion dollars.
What's Surge's secret? They emphasize high-quality, nuanced data labeling performed by humans rather than treating it as a problem to solve by throwing cheap overseas labor at it.
I'm encouraged by stories like Surge AI and others that remain relatively unknown while creating tremendous value. They remind us that behind every lasting success is something more substantial than clever marketing or buzzwords.
As we navigate this AI boom, I'm increasingly convinced that when the hype fades, it's the companies building with genuine craft and quality that will remain standing.
@denk_tweets Yup fair. I guessed as much when Beehiiv launched own your own mobile app feature haha. Pretty smart strategic move! It's a great sell to users, and reduces risk to Beehiiv itself.
