White people are absolutely not the standard. Being well dressed, well read, well groomed, educated, allat has zero to do with white standards & if you disagree, I think you should unpack why you think it does.
And then using yt students and what they do at PWIs to justify black students wearing bonnets, yeah no. I really hate the “well yt people do it” narrative.
The class divide in the black community isn't about socioeconomic status. The class divide is about mindset. There's plenty of Mfs regardless of their wealth that just don't value decorum.
An institution of higher learning having to make a policy that essentially says "change out of your night clothes before coming to class" is CRAZY.
Even crazier yall GROWN asses are arguing against it
A lot of y'all "pro blackness" solely revolves around pissing hypothetical white people off. No affirmative values or vision. Just childish reactionary bullshit.
What’s implied when y’all assume mfs just wanna impress white people is that we don’t and can’t have standards for ourselves when it comes to being presentable. And y’all be deadass proud of keeping the bar low.
1. Dress codes at an HBCU is not anti-black.
2. Wearing a bonnet or durag to class is tacky af.
3. It’s a time and place for everything.
4. Yall pick and choose when you want to adhere to being appropriate.
Y’all won’t be caught dead wearing a bonnet to the club but fighting to wear them at your universities, kid’s schools, grocery stores and every where else a little decorum is expected😭 then blame it on anti blackness, like people would say shit to you if you worse a dashiki.
