Entrepreneurship in Kenya is becoming an endurance test.

You register a business. You pay for licences. You pay rent. You pay salaries. You pay taxes. You pay levies. You pay for electricity, internet, transport, compliance and increasingly expensive credit.

Then you wait 60, 90, sometimes 120 days to be paid.

Meanwhile, government tells young people to “create jobs.”

Create jobs with what capital?

Banks want collateral many entrepreneurs do not have. Government procurement can cripple SMEs through delayed payments. The cost of borrowing remains painful. Consumer purchasing power is under pressure, and every new tax or levy eats directly into already-thin margins.

Kenyan entrepreneurs are not failing because they lack ideas, ambition or the willingness to work.

They are being asked to build businesses inside an ecosystem that often punishes production, rewards connections and makes survival unnecessarily expensive.

A country cannot tax its way into prosperity.

If Kenya genuinely wants jobs, innovation and a stronger tax base, then entrepreneurs must be treated as national economic assets—not walking ATMs.

Make credit affordable.

Pay SMEs on time.

Reduce unnecessary licences and levies.

Keep taxes predictable.

Lower the cost of energy.

Open government opportunities fairly.

Then get out of the entrepreneur’s way and watch Kenyans build.

The future of Kenya will not be created in government offices.

It will be built by the millions of people taking risks every morning to keep businesses alive.

If not, perhaps what we perceive as "corruption" may not necessarily be considered so in the business of international Monetary Fund management, "it's a game of wits". Who's asking matters too

Odious Debt is a legal reality. Under international law, when a creditor lends to a regime that loots the funds against the people’s interest, that debt becomes "odious." It is not the people’s burden to carry.

The @IMFNews claims it has no "political" mandate. But as a @UN agency, it has a Duty of Care. Funding a regime that bypasses Parliamentary oversight and ignores the Law makes the IMF an accomplice to constitutional subversion.

Article 201 of our Constitution, Public finance must be guided by transparency. Loans signed in secret, without public participation, are null and void ab initio.
