Paige Bueckers finished with 13 points and 8 assists with zero turnovers in the Dallas Wings’ previous win over the Indiana Fever, and she is now just two assists away from becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,400 points and 400 assists.
It wasn’t the best shooting night for the second-year superstar, who entered the game averaging (23.8) points, (6.3) assists, and (2.4) steals over her previous four games, but she still found ways to make an impact. Her timely playmaking directly led to 19 points for Dallas, helping Awak Kuier reach double figures while also setting up Arike Ogunbowale throughout the game. Nearly 40% of Ogunbowale’s points off made field goals came from Bueckers assists. And that’s without even mentioning Jessica Shepard’s unreal 20+ point first-half performance.
That’s the type of game Dallas needs. Bueckers doesn’t have to carry the entire scoring load every night if the players around her consistently step up. The Wings also got nine points from their bench, though the unit shot just 2-for-10 from the field.
That was the final top-eight opponent Bueckers and the Wings will face during the regular season. Dallas now has two signature wins apiece over Indiana, New York, and Las Vegas.
After a brutal seven-game stretch in which Dallas faced a top-eight team six times, the schedule finally eases up. The Wings will close out the regular season entirely against teams outside the top eight.
That could be huge for Dallas, which is (14-1) against non-top-eight teams this season. If the Wings can take advantage and win their next seven games, they could put themselves in position to avoid a first-round matchup with Minnesota or Golden State—two teams they haven’t been able to beat this season.
This final stretch could also be historic for Bueckers. Not only does she have an opportunity to record the most points by a player through their first two seasons in WNBA history, she also has a chance to help Dallas set a new franchise record for wins.
We’re predicting a top-five finish for Bueckers in scoring and a top-five finish for Dallas in the standings, which would cap off a historic season for Bueckers and the Wings. ✨
Conan sold the “we accidentally double-booked them” apology just long enough for people to almost believe it.
Then Jon Dore and Rory Scovel started performing their entire sets at the exact same time.
The timing is insane. One goes loud while the other drops volume. Random punchlines keep cutting clean through the chaos. Halfway through they escalate with a guitar and an audience member at the perfect moment.
Four minutes of pure controlled madness that still feels fresh over a decade later.
This is still one of the smartest late night bits ever done.
Never seen chaos this fun
