God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.
When I met Vice President Vance just hours before the war began, I formed an impression that both he and the President had a genuine and strong preference to avoid the entanglements of war. So I urge that the ceasefire be extended and talks continue. Success may require everyone to make painful concessions, but this is nothing as compared to the pain of failure and war.
How to see opportunities others miss:
1) Study a totally different field, then return to the original problem. Apply insights from other domains.
2) Invert the problem. Try to achieve the opposite.
3) Find ways to engage with hyper-creative people. Their thinking will rub off.
It only takes five minutes to break the cycle.
Five minutes of exercise and you are back on the path. Five minutes of writing and the manuscript is moving forward again. Five minutes of conversation and the relationship is restored.
It doesn't take much to feel good again.
Trust in yourself is not only built through successful repetitions, but also through failed ones.
When you have worked through failures in the past, you fear them less in the future. You know you can bounce back.
Successful repetitions build competence. Failed repetitions build resilience.
Just returned from a dream vacation in NYC celebrating our 37th anniversary. We always stay at the same boutique hotel that we first stayed at 27 years ago. Since that 1st stay, we like to recreate the image we first took. Here is the 1st one compared to this year’s.
After my 30+ years on earth, one thing I know is that people like who they like and there isn’t much you can do about it. If you like sacrifice and give your head. It won’t change much. This cuts across employer- employee relationships, platonic love and romantic love.
I encourage you to gravitate towards people that actually like you.
Happy Valentine’s Day
Don’t feel qualified? Nobody does.
You can only be qualified to do that which you have already accomplished or trained for.
Anything new is accomplished by unqualified people.
In the modern world, it is easy to feel like a passenger: reacting to notifications, responding to demands, consuming whatever you happen to drive past on your screen.
But joy is found in being the driver. It's the act of looking at the raw material of your circumstances — your time, your energy, your relationships, your skills — and seeing what you can make from it.
It is the act of creating the life you want (in big and small ways) that makes you feel alive and imbues life with extra meaning. The fact that you can hold a vision in your mind and then, however imperfectly, bend reality a few degrees in that direction.
You should always be rooting for the people you know. Not only because you may need their support tomorrow, but also because it feels good to celebrate something.
Celebration can rescue your day—even if it is someone else's victory. Envy will ruin your day—even if you're actually winning.
For anyone who would like to hear Mark Carney’s outstanding Davos speech in full here it is. This is what true global leadership looks like.
Canada should be immensely proud today, because they are leading the fight back when others dare not.

The best way to improve is not to focus on results. It’s to focus on habits.
27 studies: Behavior change goals are 3x more effective than outcome goals in boosting performance. Growth depends on altering the actions we can control.
A key to progress is concentrating on process.
The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end.
The @DeptofWar is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight — on Christmas. More to come…
Grateful for Nigerian government support & cooperation.
Merry Christmas!
You can go a long way in life living by one simple rule: Don’t make things harder than they need to be. Most people don’t need you to be impressive. They need you to be easy to deal with. Simplify decisions, handle issues quietly, and don’t turn small problems into big ones.
