Can’t believe in 15 years Twitter has gone from a pretty useless novelty, to a kind of useful in very specific cases platform, to a horrible depressing chasm of sadeness. #MyXAnniversary
@build_beaut Choice isn’t between plane & train & purely on time
Consider a matrix with:
- speed/cost/departure-arrival point/comfort on one axis, and;
- plane/train/coach/car on the other.
Eliminate based on constraints (don’t have the $, or time, or need leg room
Choose from what is left
@thebigjohnnyd It makes me sad when and author or actor I had nothing against, and vaguely liked the work of, paints themselves as an arse.
Also, he misunderstands the average kid’s (let alone farm kid) understanding of physics, guns and blowing shit up.
Ahhh, back in the day when I joined Twitter for a single specific use… can’t believe almost everything good about the platform has eroded in the last year. #MyXAnniversary
This is getting ridiculous.
OISST provides a real-time daily index of ocean surface temperature (60 S - 60 N). For the last month it has been continuously reading higher than in any previous year and still shows no sign of settling.
@abcnews For me this highlights the issues with the reach of the internet and the breadth of the English language - “Government” can imply anything from completely ‘neutral public funding’ to ‘whim of the dear leader, possibly enforced with brutal violence’…
@mainiesman@krassenstein Less guns & a functional Nat’l registration and licensing d’base would all make a diff- but Aust also needs those!
The diff is the US culture of a personal right to self defence using deadly force, in anything short of extreme threat to life, at the expense of public safety.
@ramespaulus@Flakito_gringo@Cernovich@MattWalshBlog I would imagine the confusion comes from most inhabitants of the planet hearing ‘AK’ and immediately thinking iconic AK47, generic automatic military rifle - which is historically the majority of Kalashnikov family of rifles (though mostly not civilian ones in the US).
@slsandpet@LakeMacGirl I assume this scam works enough that they keep doing it - I guess that, like you, enough people coincidentally travel a toll road and receive the scam massage right after - which in their mind makes it just plausible enough for them to click the link…
For those still in doubt about why Neo-Nazis turned up at Kellie-Jay Keen’s anti-trans rally in Melbourne, these images from a video they have posted make clear that they were there in support of KJK’s campaign - as their leader Thomas Sewell stated on the day
@DavidPocock The problem is, it isn’t 4 hours… it is that plus getting to Kingston. Which from western Belco is either 20ish in a car or 1-2 hours public transport… by which time I’d be well past Goulburn in my car.
But I guess it depends, are you replacing cars or planes?
@ACTPolicing I hate that bit of city ‘planning’ - forcing bikes off the road to pass bus stops on the path, mix with slower bikes, pedestrians, scooter riders and blind path intersections is horrible.
Hope this fellow is ok - and that ACT gov puts some thought into it in the future.
@adhdjesse Volunteer firefighting works perfectly for me - get message, become hyper attentive, everything is suddenly interesting, run red lights, fly in helicopters, get direct results from actions - then pack up and go home.
Weirdly, find it hard to engage with regular training…
@AnthonyClarkAU Some feedback on the new app… after the update my watch areas (which overlap the ACT) started buzzing my phone with every bin fire and MVA the city… I’ve changed the the settings now, but would be nice to limit it to rural fires (or NSW incidents only).
How good is targeted internet advertising! My first vertical #caving trip in eons last weekend and suddenly ads for @petzl products flood my feed… https://t.co/6w1LM0drAy
