Curious…This is the recurring pattern with Gavin Newsom and many modern Democrats:

Create conditions through regulation, taxation, ideological policymaking, energy restrictions, soft-on-crime governance, bureaucratic expansion, and anti-business climates that destabilize affordability and economic confidence…

Then step forward as the “rescuer” offering new layers of government intervention to solve the crisis their governance accelerated.

California became the perfect case study.

Sky high housing costs.
Mass corporate flight.
Middle class exodus.
Retail theft normalization.
Homeless encampments everywhere.
Energy instability.
Water mismanagement.
Insurance companies leaving.
Small businesses suffocating under regulation.
And now anxiety over AI displacement.

Then Newsom appears saying:
“The system is broken.”

But many Americans are asking:
Who has been running the system?

Democrats have dominated California politically for decades. At some point you cannot keep blaming abstract forces, capitalism, climate, or “the rich” while simultaneously controlling the legislature, bureaucracy, education system, regulatory agencies, and executive branch.

And notice the rhetorical maneuver…

He frames himself as the defender of workers against “algorithms” while his own state helped create one of the most hostile business environments in America for small operators, independent contractors, truckers, restaurateurs, and manufacturers.

This is why so many citizens no longer trust the performance.

People are exhausted by politicians describing disasters as though they arrived mysteriously from the sky instead of emerging from cumulative policy decisions.

The public increasingly sees the cycle:

Create instability.
Declare emergency.
Expand government power.
Repeat.

Meanwhile ordinary citizens simply want functional streets, affordable housing, stable energy, safe communities, and the freedom to build businesses without drowning in bureaucracy.

That is the disconnect destroying trust.
