@Faheem_uh Professor B every time. I thrive on minimal supervision. You’re supposed to have more autonomy in academia - even prior to attaining your Ph.D.
@Kaju_Nut I think either is fine, but my mantra is always “what’s this rush?” Also, if you don’t have funding, there’s a rush of course. If you have funding though, taking your time can be so valuable to learn what you need (and want) to learn to be successful in academia in your field!
@NeuroLuebbert The “upper class” comment - barf 🤢. I’ve had other female friends in academia say they have gone through similar situations too. Nobody should have to deal with that. None of that is okay.
@jvitak A list of all the best coffee shops in town and maybe a giftcard or two to a few of them! Maybe a list of department faculty with their research areas and emails / preferred means of communication to get a head start on potential dissertation committee members too.
@ThePhDPlace It does not matter where your co-authors are working or where they got their degrees. If it does matter to people who are looking at your CV for a job, that job probably is not worth your time. There are plenty of departments that want to work with people from all over.
@ThePhDPlace Submit it to a journal anyway and submit to a good quartile 1 journal that aligns well with your article. If it gets rejected, you will get valuable feedback to make it better! If it gets accepted, it is probably better than you realize. 😉
