Honestly, saying federal/state MBBS is “better” than private MBBS is kinda outdated now.
First, strikes. Federal and state schools go on strike frequently. You can lose 1-2 years just waiting for ASUU to call it off. Private schools? Calendar runs straight. You finish when you’re supposed to finish.
Then resources. A lot of private med schools are newer, so the labs, sim labs, and hospital postings are less crowded. You’re not fighting 200 people to use one microscope or waiting months for a rotation slot.
And life outside class is just easier. Stable light, better hostels, less “figure it out yourself” stress. That alone makes it easier to actually focus on med school.
At the end of the day MDCN exam doesn’t care if you’re from UNN or Babcock. They just test your knowledge. So “better” is really wherever you can learn consistently without losing years to strike and without battling for basic resources.
Outside the Baby...Cataplexy.
Cataplexy usually happens when there is sudden weakness of the muscles of the body.
Look at this way, the muscles of the body just suddenly relax, give way, the person just falls and then wakes up.
Before it was poorly understood but now we know what causes it.
There is a small part of the brain called "Hypothalamus" (see pic) that produces a substance called "Hypocretin" which helps in wakefulness, hunger and more.
When this substance is low it can happen.
A notorious condition that can have Cataplexy is a Sleep problem called "Narcolepsy"
You must have seen videos where someone was driving , just falls asleep and has an accident. Yes that is Cataplexy at play in the scenario of Narcolepsy which where they have Sleep problems and Hallucinations.
Other things like brain tumors, brain diseases can cause it etc can
Cataplexy can be dangerous because imagine being at work or working on a staircase, having an episode and falling off.
Needs a Medical intervention
Anxiety is your brain overestimating threat and underestimating your ability to handle it. The moment you label something 'fun' instead of 'important,' your amygdala literally stands down.
You're not lying to yourself. You're giving your nervous system permission to perform.🤝
This is free advice from an expensive psychologist. If you’re an anxious person, do everything for fun. Go to a job interview for fun. Submit documents for fun. Start a blog for fun. Anxiety feeds on importance. Don’t make everything a matter of life and death.
The cage is real, and it's built from repeated thoughts, not reality.
Neuroscience calls it learned helplessness — the brain literally stops seeing exits that are right there.
The saddest part? The key was always in your hand. You just stopped reaching for it.
Most people will never discover the outer edges of their potential.
They inherit limitations from their environment, their peers, their fears, and slowly begin treating them as facts.
The greatest tragedy in life is reaching the end and realizing you spent decades living inside a cage that was locked from the inside.
Chronic inflammation!
It silently drives heart disease, cancer, depression, diabetes, and Alzheimer's. One root. Most of the tree. Nobody talks about it because it doesn't have a dramatic name. It just quietly kills more people than almost anything else.
That glowing red brain scan in the image says it all: anger is not just a feeling, it's a biological event happening right inside your skull.
One minute of anger weakens the immune system for 4 to 5 hours, while one minute of laughter strengthens it for 24 hours. Read that again slowly. The same amount of time. Wildly different outcomes.
Most people think of anger as a mood. Science sees it as a physiological cascade. Research in psychoneuroimmunology shows that anger rapidly elevates stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, suppresses crucial immune responses, and increases inflammation. Your body does not know you were just annoyed at a tweet. It prepares for war, and war is expensive.
Anger suppresses natural killer cell activity, the cells that fight virus-infected and cancerous cells, and can reduce their efficiency by up to 40% temporarily. Meanwhile, markers like interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein actually rise, promoting systemic inflammation even as the immune system weakens. Weakened defenses and more inflammation at the same time. That is a bad trade.
And the irony that most people miss: today's stressors are constant and often minor, a rude text, a frustrating boss, social media outrage. But the body cannot distinguish emotional stress from physical danger. It reacts the same way.
You are not being attacked by a lion. You are reading comments. But your immune system is paying the same biological toll regardless.
Individuals with below-average levels of anger control heal significantly slower than those less disposed to this emotion. Your ability to regulate emotion is literally a health variable.
The takeaway is practical, not philosophical. You cannot afford to be chronically reactive in a world designed to provoke you constantly. Protecting your peace is not soft. It is strategic. Every time you choose not to engage with something that does not deserve your anger, you are making a measurable investment in your body's ability to defend itself.
Guard your calm the way you guard your sleep. Both are doing more for you than you realize.
Dear pregnant mum,
It is very good to exercise during pregnancy, but no go dey do pass your self.
1. Whatever workout you weren't doing before you got pregnant, DO NOT start in pregnancy.
2. You dont need to hit the gym or lift weights. A gentle walk, a simple home cardio or a dance session all counts for good exercise in pregnancy.
3. If you do not feel up to it, don't do it. You are raising a whole human in your body and that counts for a lot!
4. If your nose becomes big or your feet are swollen or you aren't looking as pretty as Temi looks, it is alright too. Just make sure you are sane and your mental health is in good shape.
5. Eat healthy, move your body, have fun when you feel up to it. And if the craving hits, eat it but don't overdo it.
6. If you have been advised to be on bed rest, or to have only a little bit of physical activity, stick to it. Your safety and the baby's safety is all that matters. You will get you tea body when baby comes out
For men who want a pretty preggo who is always picture ready, have money and spend the money on pampering her. If you want a Monaco view, you will have to spend Monaco money.
When I was still in medical school
A well fed woman brought her sick child and the child was not meeting up with weight and height for his age….
She swore she feeds the child well
Only for the nurses to secretly watch her serve the child food and she made Milo for the child, one satchet of Milo, she practically sprinkled a little bit into a large cup of water, did the same thing with milk….. It was so light, basically water and a pinch of Milo but when she will buy her own food, it will be filled with meat.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the word 'Chief'
I sincerely believe it's one of the greatest world ever invented.
You can literally call anyone chief, adult o, young person, children o, male or female.
It's versatility is unmatched.
It's also the ultimate cheat when you forget the name of someone, just start calling them chief.
And the best part about chief is how adaptable it is.
If chief doesn't work, there are so many other variants such as my chief, big chief, chiefoo, chief chief and so on.
Goated word for real.
Just sitting in my soon ex-dorm room and bruh I think it’s sinking in finally that like this is it man, I’m out
I did this thing man. I did it.
Definitely a girl helped by God❤️
My friend accidentally splashed my foundation all over the floor and immediately gasped, “Oh my God, I am so sorry. What do I do now?”
I stared at the mess for a moment with disappointment. Then, I looked up and asked solemnly, “If the foundation has been destroyed, what shall the righteous do?”
